Game of the Decade: 2010-2019 Contest Analysis Crew - Part 0
GameFAQs Contests
hi i see its contest season time again This time I'm deciding to do something different (without consulting anyone) and make the Crew topic before the Contest even starts. I just wanted to get some early feedback from everyone about any changes or ideas they have for the Crew this year. Should there be more members (6 + Guest) or is it fine as it was? Should write-ups be posted sooner? Should the format be completely different? Anything you've got I'd like to hear, and that's from both former Crew members and readers. I'm open to suggestions. or just use this as another stats topic to speculate about the contest and discuss the bracket when its released go nuts Moltar Status: Property of Advokaiser Contest Analysis Crew Archives: http://thecrew.speedrunwiki.com/ |
I
feel like 6 members is good, especially if we're going to have multiple
matches per day. I'm fine with writeups being posted close to the start
time, but earlier is fine. I'm not sure what ideas you have in mind for a different format though. |
I
don't see any real reason to change things from the way they were in
2018, though take that with a grain of salt because I'm just some B8er
who swung and missed with a few guest write-ups. "I believe in a universe that doesn't care, and people who do." You won the CBX Guru Contest, Advokaiser! Bully for you! |
I
think the size of the field and post timing in 2018 was ideal, the only
bummer was how many Guest writeups ended up blank in the final two
weeks or so. Maybe a new policy could be, if you don't have anything
from the Guest two hours before posting time, mention so in the topic.
And whoever sends the best e-mail becomes the official Guest for that
day. Advo bested even The Show hosts in 2018, yowza! board8.wikia.com | thengamer.com/xstats |
Hmm? Archives look okay from what I'm seeing. https://board8.fandom.com/wiki/Contest_Analysis_Crew Oh I see what happened, the server put up a generic index.html when we want that wiped so it just shows the folders. Moltar can fix that later, but for now everything's still there, you can click into any season you want from the wiki. we
probably need to see a bracket first to see what the format is. this
could be fourways or four matches a day or 64 entries, who knows. I think the problem we run into is guest fatigue - we get the same 10ish volunteers and it’s tough for them to want to write every 2-3 days since we do so many matches at once now. it was a lot easier to manage one match a day. add the c and back away iphonesience |

One
thing you could do to reduce guest fluking is to have people send a
writeup/prediction as criteria for signing up for the slot, and give
them the opportunity to update it if the want to before the match. "Like Darth Maul, the bastard child of Michael Flatley and hellboy" - trancer1 lol xstats |
good to see that a lot of people like things as they are now LeonhartFour posted... I feel like 6 members is good, especially if we're going to have multiple matches per day. Yeah, posting early would at least give you time for someone to be an emergency fill-in if the guest no-shows. |
Yeah, I'll do it. My last Crew as an unmarried man. Kleenex is in Australia at the moment, so I'm not sure if he'll be able to respond! |
I think last year might have been my worst year in terms of points! I need to redeem myself! |
Tag! I've always enjoyed these. Ngamer64 posted... And whoever sends the best e-mail becomes the official Guest for that day. It has not really needed to be in the final part of the contest for guest to blank out though, but I suppose the format of last contest made it more difficult. Guests had a really short notice on if they were gonna be writing for a match, and there was not much way around that. If your idea was implemented, a more clear deadline would probably have to be specified and Moltar would have to check on everything twice each day, so I'd rather just think that if no Guest write-up was posted along with the rest, than someone could snatch it then. even on the other side of the globe my crew senses were tingling yeah I’m in, no real preference on format change, though wouldn’t be opposed to adding a new regular member if people are into it |
thinking about keeping this topic around until contest start Moltar Status: Property of Advokaiser Contest Analysis Crew Archives: http://thecrew.speedrunwiki.com/ |

we can officially start asking where the darn bracket is now |
ZeldaTPLink posted... Creating a system to avoid guest fluking would be interesting. Maybe give it a deadline until 12 hours before the match starts in order to look for other people. I like this idea. That provides enough time to find a replacement guest, but if the original guest sends in their write-up before the match starts, then it should override the write-up provided by the replacement guest. The placeholder prediction from guests sounds like a great idea. I have nothing else to add but that I'm really looking forward to reading you guys' write ups. I also appreciate any post-match commentary you can offer too (particuarly where results are interesting/unexpected). We are living our lives Abound with so much information |

What's the last day of the contest? I think it should finish before the wedding, but it'll be close! |
MetalmindStats posted... The contest ends on April 30, though there's a six-day break in the middle starting April 14. whew that gives me a few weeks ZenOfThunder posted... leon just make your wedding vows your Crew analysis for the final match I can do that |
transience posted... I have to say, I'm excited to get going on this contest It's only 24 of that though, since apparently Allen reduced Round 3 to two matches a day. |
MetalmindStats posted... Oh, apparently The Crew archives are down, something I just noticed by clicking the link in Moltar's sig. Ngamer64 posted... Hmm? I'm not expecting to do long writeups for the first couple rounds just because there's so little data out there! I need to find a gimmick |
