Lopen's Unofficial Analysisx2 Mario v Zelda I think both of these two have arguments to go bigger on the rematch. Zelda has Mario being slimy against Samus (and if he gets here, Cloud as well) in her corner, and also the fact that she won this last time Mario on the other hand has people not wanting to see that rematch again, not wanting an all Zelda grand final, and Zelda enthusiasm probably being much lower now cause of her whooping. I'm honestly not sure which wins out but my feeling is that contest enthusiasts (who are the only ones who these factors really apply to) probably support Mario overall from these events and due to the fact we haven't seen Mario/Link yet, as they are probably aren't looking at the results so closely as to fully grasp robberies, so he can slime his way through another one. Mario with 50.04% Cloud v Zelda Simpler match to analyze. Cloud has all the positives of Mario, with none of the slime. I also think that a Zelda coming off a beating from Link is indirectly weaker than Mario, straight up. Cloud Strife with 54.89% No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |
Zelda
may have a bandwagon, but if Mario wins, that means his two most recent
wins were really close. And Zelda just finished getting crushed by
Link, too. I feel that Mario is the more likely character to get a
bandwagon for today's match. Not to mention he'll likely benefit from
having lost a close match against Zelda previously. Last of all, some voters will probably vote for Mario to avoid the Link/Zelda repeat final. I suppose Mario could get a few anti-votes for his shenanigans/cheating/clutch/stuffing, though. But watch Zelda beat Mario, anyway. (though it will more likely be Zelda vs. Cloud) "Ah,

I was gonna say Zelda would jump to 53% at the freeze when I was
writing that earlier post. Should have done so so I could crow now!

He just brought Mario to justice, He wouldn't be a rematch with Link like Zelda would (well he would but not a finals rematch), he's the only not-LoZ character left... have any chance of beating him, how is he supposed to summon up any
excitement for tomorrow? Winning these contests used to be fun, but
now it seems to be either crushing everyone with over 60% or getting

There is nothing fun left in his matches. He won't even get ridiculous % anymore so we could just skip his matches by setting random values at 20-25 for fodder, 25-30 for midcarders, and between 35-41 for elites. That's basically all matches Link will ever get until the votals drop so low he starts losing due to antivotes (votals around 5000 I would say) (edited 12/12/2018 6:28:41 PM) |

I assume that's rhetorical? Although, to actually address it. Obviously you attribute Mario/Samus to rSFF but I think you also have to consider the Samus/Snake match a slight aberration because otherwise Samus seems too strong I think? It's an unsatisfying answer but it's not entirely without precedent IMO (Link/Magus 2003 for instance, sprite round couldn't possibly boost him that much, right?) Think you end up with some kind of tier system of: Samus Zelda Mario Cloud Snake [...] Sonic With the following caveats: Whether it's Mario being an rSFF beast or Samus just being very vulnerable to the HIERARCHY is probably indeterminate until/unless we get Samus v Zelda. Indirectly you have to give it to Samus but in terms of what would actually happen, I think you can't count out Zelda citing Mario/Samus and Zelda/Mario as evidence. Snake is on shaky ground. He's basically where he is because you're splitting the different between his matches with Zelda and Samus. You can try to smooth it over by saying Zelda is bandwagoned so his close match with Zelda was against a lesser Zelda than the one against Mario but I don't know if that shakes out all that well with other results. It's really just Occam's Razor that the Samus match is a slight outlier for both sides. point. I would say he should probably be considered the favorite right

I'm not convinced that Snake was actually stronger than Samus in 2006. He boosted even more in 2010 and still barely finished higher than her in the X-Stats. |
My explanation: Samus got a big temporary Smash boost, making Snake Samus much stronger than Tifa Samus Mario through "clutch" and rSFF was able to mostly mitigate that boost as no one else could Samus is also the strongest of the lot naturally by a lot. To the point where she would've walked over Cloud easily. Zelda is less susceptible to SFF from Mario than Samus, but is indirectly weaker by a lot Samus vs Cloud and Samus vs Zelda are really the only way we'd know though. No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |
