Lopen's analysis:

Oh, whoops, forgot about this.

Oh, sure, now everyone thinks the rallies is going to pay off, but... the rally's... size... can't match up. Sephiroth falls behind to start the match but... thrusts fiercely... into the lead... as the lead... begins to swell... the butthurt is enormous. Impotent Draven and Pokemon just don't... measure up.

Lopen's prediction:
Sephiroth - 134.33%
Mewtwo - 24.00%
Draven - -58.33%

Oh well, at least Mega Man won. I was legitimately shocked when I checked the results page and saw he narrowly pulled it out. I was even more shocked when I checked the updater.

Sad I missed probably the best match of the contest.

I was actually kind of hoping the rallies would stay down because it would basically confirm Allen had an agenda to get rid of Link, saw his opportunity, took it, and then threw it away.

I read the Stats Topic.

Allen giving a complete non-answer about Barkley was probably the worst thing he could have done, considering he basically just dropped into that topic to say it.

I mean, I realize he feels like he has no obligation to explain himself to us concerning his decisions regarding this contest whatsoever, but if you're the site admin and you're not going to give an answer of substance to a legitimate question (something he's refused to do all contest), then don't say anything at all.

Anyway, at least Mega Man vs. Samus will be fun.

He was the heavy favorite. 5 guys out of 7 picked him for winning. You are taking this too seriously.

Besides his rally against Link was weaker than the one he had against X. So Link proved he is not completely imortal.

Although what he is doing against Mewtwo now proves there isn't anyone left to beat Draven now that Link is gone...

FEAR

LOL GOOD JOB POKEMON FANS NOW SNAKE CAN COAST TO THE FINALS

But really, this is a pretty bad match for the Pokemon because I can't see either Pika or Squirtle getting fully abandoned here. Squirtle leans more towards the hardcore and Pikachu to the casuals, which could lead to Pokefans fighting amongst themselves instead of uniting.

Meanwhile, Snake is going to be getting over 40% here and there's only 100% to give. From that alone I've got to give the win to Snake.

For second it's pretty much a toss-up between the two Pokemon. It won't be clear until the first freeze who gets pushed and who gets left behind. Squirtle getting favored at the start by the hardcore may be the difference maker.

Moltar’s Prediction: Snake: 46% - Squirtle: 32% - Pikachu: 22%

Lopen’s Analysis

Draven and Pokemon all the rest of the way. I'm probably not the only one who doesn't care much and thinks Mega Man/Charizard/Zero was the real final-- but only 3 matches left so at least this will mercifully be over soon.

Pikachu is lightning type, Squirtle is water type. For the way that split goes I don't think we need to go further than that do we?

Oh and then Snake injects a lethal dose of poison into the match.

Lopen's prediction:
Solid Ekans - 50.10%
Pikachu - 31.57%
Squirtle - 18.33%

Leonhart’s Analysis

I might be a little concerned about Squirtle OR Pikachu here, but obviously not both. Squirtle beat Cloud, which should be enough to put a scare into any non-Nintendo Noble Niner if they were to face him. Snake has looked pretty solid (get it) all contest, though he seemed a bit more mortal last round against Kefka and GlaDOS. A heavily bandwagoned Squirtle would stand an outside shot here, though he’d still be an underdog because I think Snake > Cloud and Snake’s harder to rally against. But throw Pikachu into the mix and Snake coasts because I don’t see either Pokemon getting completely abandoned here.

Leonhart’s Vote: Solid Snake

Leonhart’s Prediction:

Solid Snake – 50.00%
Squirtle – 30.00%
Pikachu – 20.00%

Kleenex’s Analysis

Unless the Pokemon camp completely abandons one of their guys, I don't see any way Snake drops this. As wonderful as it would be to see Snake lose to Squirtle, it probably won't happen. What a shame.

Kleenex's Prediction
Snake with 43.00%
Squirtle with 36.00%
Pikachu with 21.00%

Transience’s Analysis

So, it's our second strongest legit character vs. two Pokemon. I'm more curious to see if voters side with Squirtle or Pikachu. I'm gonna say... Squirtle. Why not? There's really nothing to analyze here. Everyone gets smushed by Draven no matter what.

Though they would have been squashed by Link if he had won, so nothing's really changed!

transience's prediction:

Snake - 54%

Squirtle - 26%
Pikachu - 20%

KP's Analysis

Pokefear can only be taken so far. I think Squirtle gets 2nd, though. It's kind of hard for me to see people voting Pikachu over Squirtle.

Snake - 42%
Squirtle 30%
Pikachu - 28%

Guest’s Analysis - Bane

Final 9! I wish I could say more about this match but I’m rushing a bit due to business, excuse the brevity.

Snake, Squirtle, Pikachu. Interesting combatants all vying for a spot in the FINAL MATCH AGAINST THE ALMIGHTY DRAVEN. Snake has arguably had the best and easiest run of the Noble 9 in this contest, never really being contested in his matches. He’s been looking really good, and this match is geared towards him advancing with the SFF between Pikachu and Squirtle.

Now between Pikachu and Squirtle, the obvious choice would be Pikachu. The mascot of the Pokemon franchise and instantly recognizable, the electric mouse definitely has the advantage. However, Squirtle took down Cloud, which is quite a feat. You can’t really count him out, but I’m going with the safe if a bit boring choice: Snake > Pikachu > Squirtle. Maybe if Squirtle got his Squirtle Squad picture plastered everywhere again, he would have a better chance. I would be totally ok with that, who DOESN’T want more Squirtle Squad pictures?

Pikachu-31.46%
Snake- 39.85%
Squirtle- 28.69%

Semifinals: Match 120 – (1) Samus Aran vs. (4) Pokemon Trainer Red vs. (1) Mega Man

Moltar’s Analysis

Samus
Round 1 – 68.51% vs. Sandbag and Isaac C
Round 2 – 61.85% vs. Knuckles and Catherine
Round 3 – 41.70% vs. Tifa and L-Block

I can think of two reasons why Tifa kept her strength

Red
Round 1 – 70.78% vs. Corvo and Sissel
Round 2 – 51.58% vs. Wrex and Wario
Round 3 – 39.10% vs. Vivi and Squall

POKEFE-Actually after 3 straight days of losses, they don't seem so scary anymore

Mega Man
Round 1 – 55.28% vs. Magikarp and Geno
Round 2 – 56.67% vs. Jill and Kratos
Round 3 – 40.21% vs. Charizard and Zero

MM continuing to beast.

So Red is dead here. Didn't look good despite that Squall/Vivi split and now has to deal with 2 Nintendo powerhouses. I doubt Pokefans can rally him over both if they couldn't even get Charizard to beat MM.

Both Samus and MM have looked like Noble Nine characters this contest (trust me that is some high praise). Traditionally, Samus has been stronger than MM, but MM fans have a fire lit under them. The rally to beat Charizard definitely proved that. If this is very close between Samus and MM, I gotta give it to MM.

But I don't think it'll be all that close because Samus is just higher on the Nintendo totem pole than MM. In a four-way with Cloud and Ryu years ago, MM was left behind in favor of Samus, which I think sets the precedent here. Combine that along with her advantage over MM in raw power, and I think Samus takes this.

Moltar’s Prediction: Samus: 39% - Red: 24% - Mega Man: 37%

Lopen’s Analysis

Pokefear not here. Samus and Mega Man have been in the half of the NNers that have actually looked fitting of the title this year (along with Snake and Link). As such, Pokemon Trainer should look pretty bad here, as he rightly should.

As for Mega Man vs Samus I like Mega Man. Momentum in his corner and honestly Mega Man has always held up pretty well against her so it's not as if he needs to boost a lot to deal with her.

Lopen's prediction:
Mega Man - 39.44%
Samus Aran - 37.55%
Pokemon Trainer - 23.01%

Leonhart’s Analysis

This match feels like Snake/Samus 2006 all over again. Mega Man’s just come off a big win and everyone’s excited about how much stronger he seems this year, while Samus just struggled to beat Tifa. Red being there could be an extra bit of help for Mega Man as he’ll probably leech Samus a bit, but I dunno. I’d be kind of surprised if Red contended for the win here though. I know people say this contest isn’t transitive anymore, but there’s a limit to the non-transitivity. We’re not suddenly seeing CATS beating Noble Niners or anything. Not to say Red is on that level, but he needed a HUGE advantage just to beat Squall and Vivi, and Mega Man and Samus are a step above those two and Red is being leeched instead of taking advantage of the leeching. All in all, I hope Mega Man wins, but I’m feelin’ a Samus victory here.

Leonhart’s Vote: Mega Man

Leonhart’s Prediction:

Samus Aran – 38.00%
Mega Man – 36.00%
Pokemon Trainer Red – 26.00%

Kleenex’s Analysis

Mega Man has momentum, maybe? Samus is strong, she should still survive. Red will really get wrecked, rightfully.

Kleenex's Prediction
Samus with 40.00%
Red with 23.00%
Mega Man with 37.00%

Transience’s Analysis

I'm excited for this match -- our last non-Draven match, in fact. And two of my favourite icons are here. But that's not why. There's two schools of thought here.

You have history. Samus beats Mega Man every year from 2003-2012 (who knows with 2002). She's higher on that Nintendo food chain and let's face it, that's all this website really is. She is more purely Nintendo. She also has a way of ruining momentum with how she beat Snake in 2006. Samus's performances this year have been pretty good, too.

But Mega Man -- he's all momentum, and this contest is all momentum. Mega Man just beat a Pokemon with his biggest weight weighing him down. He basically had the equivalent of Mario's match and he beat a guy everyone would pick over Vivi in a heartbeat. I'd be willing to give him the legit #3 seed behind Snake and Link. Not convinced on that, though, and Samus is in the top five.

Not sure what to think of Red. We get a halfway decent read on him here. He probably weighs Samus down more than Mega Man, but you never know. He shouldn't threaten them though. He's not better than Charizard.

I'm.. kinda leaning Samus here. I just don't think she's given any indication of dropping despite Other M. She's had awesome performances this year, and Mega Man needs to show that he's better than her. He's been really good, about equal to Samus, but not better.

But I'm picking Mega Man anyway. A Draven/Snake/Mega Man final sounds so good. No Nintendo!

transience's prediction:

Mega Man - 37%

Samus - 36%
Red - 27%

KP's Analysis

Some people are hyping up Red here, but I don't see it. He hasn't looked as strong as the actual Pokemon, and I also can't see him getting the same bandwagon/rally stuff the others do. The real show here is Samus vs. Mega Man, and while Samus should be considered the favorite based on history alone:

MEGA MAN.

MEGA.

MAN.

MM - 36%
Samus - 35%
Red - 29%

Guest’s Analysis - Bane

Well, I most certainly wasn't expecting this to be the third final match (**** you, Mario and Charizard).

There is an arguable case to be made for any of these characters winning here and in any order too. Samus is the strongest of the three characters (... right?) and has looked good in each of her matches so far, even going as far as to SFF the tetris block that upset Auron (lol ffx).

Red is a Pokemon character, and we know how well they have done this contest. Just go look at Mewtwo, Squirtle and Pikachu. However, Red looked pretty awful in his round 3 match against two FF characters and his first two round matches were pathetically easy.

Mega Man just managed to pull a close win against The Zard... with Zero also in the match. He has looked spectacular against his competition this year, killing Kratos, Jill and Geno. Both he and Red could very well have bandwagon votes at this stage in the contest.

But who will win? My two cents say that Red will fall third here now that two characters of TRUE raw power (who are not being LFF'ed) are in the mix, but he may still take over a quarter of the vote intake, here. It pretty much boils down to whether you think Red will LFF Samus enough (if at all) to let Mega Man slide into first. While Mega Man has looked great, I don't see him taking down Samus, though he should finish fairly close to her.

Samus - 35.67%
Red - 30.32%
Mega Man - 33.01%

Crew Consensus: Samus is the slight favorite over MM

It was me who wrote that guest write-up, Moltar. Not Bane.

Allen didn't screw VV, Phoenix Wright didn't screw VV, Mewtwo certainly did not screw VV,
nor did paulg screw VV. Vincent Valentine screwed Vincent Valentine.
