Division 2: Round 2 - Match 85 – (1) Sonic the Hedgehog vs. (13) Dracula vs. (10) Barret Wallace Moltar’s Analysis Sonic Round 1 - 66.30% vs. Fei and Dan Good showing from Sonic Dracula Round 1 - 58.63% vs. Lucina and Caim Dracula beats down some weaklings Barret Round 1 - 50.02% vs. Layton and Reimu Barret doesn't look too hot here Sonic obviously takes first here, but I guess there's a debatable match for second. Dracula looked strong taking out fodder, including the 3rd weakest character in the bracket. Meanwhile, Barret didn't do so well against Layton, who is probably high fodder at this point, and a Touhou. I'll bet on FF7 and Barret here to beat a second-string Castlevania character. Moltar’s Prediction: Sonic: 50% - Dracula: 22% - Barret: 28% Lopen’s Analysis Hi it's Lopen here for your League of Legends character battle. Rammus should win because his spinball wins over all the ladies. Vladimir will get nostalgia votes as people remember our vampire friend being OP fondly. Who's up for a pool party? EY OHHH. He may also get some joke votes from the fabled jRPG Vladimir build. Lopen's prediction: Rammus - 43.00% Vladimir - 30.00% Vi as a Black Man - 27.00% Leonhart’s Analysis Sonic the Hedgehog: Voted Fastest Thing Alive Dracula: Voted Best Philosopher Barret Wallace: Voted Best Environmentalist Here’s a chance for Sonic to look good going into his important round 3 showdown. He’s facing two wild cards who are both well known names, but I don’t think either one of them looked that great last round. Barret obviously tanked relative to expectations (RacistFAQs), but there’s a good chance Layton’s stronger than he was in 2010. He’s had like three games since then, and he has potential Layton vs. Ace Attorney hype in his corner as well. Barret did about as well on Layton as Dracula did on Lucina, so I suppose it could be a matter of who you think wins between Layton and Lucina. I think I’ll side with Barret here though because FFVII tends to do better against “real” competition, so he could end up looking better here than he did in round 1. Transience’s Analysis Well, that just happened. This has always been a possibility, just one that never actually happens because no one actually cares about these things anymore. Social media and the way information spreads now makes it super easy to mobilize 10,000 people, and really that's all you need. Well, this year someone finally cared to mess up our little 30,000 vote utopia where we only vote for the same characters year in and year out. The poor x-stats! The sanctity of contest results! Draven just literally doubled the highest number of votes in a contest match. I actually think that's kind of cool, even if it means the contest is probably over. I think it's kind of funny that all the joke characters were isolated to the bottom half of the bracket and a League meme just absolutely rocked them. I've never seen anything like what Draven did before. Not L-Block, not even Starcraft. Dravens have arrived. What now, Link? Oh right, there's another match coming. I wonder if this vote influx will have any effect on this. Assuming that it doesn't, it's an easy 1-2-3. transience's prediction: Sonic with 48%, Barret with 30%, Dracula with 22% KP's Analysis I'm very worried about Dracula vs. Barret. With Anti-FF7FAQs and RacistFAQs apparently in full swing, Barret put on one of the worst underperformances of Roound 1. I feel like just chalking it up to that rally that didn't get votes removed and a Layton boost, but man. Dracula's Round 1 performance looks better as time goes on. Still siding with Barret here, but I don't feel good about it. Sonic - 51% Barret - 25% Dracula - 24% Guest’s Analysis - Janus What is a man? I don't know but the only one in this match is black so it gets third In seriousness though, Barret looked pretty disappointing against Professor Layton and a Touhou - if it wasn't obvious pre-contest, he's gonna be the weakest playable FFVII character (aside from Cait Sith but well you know). Dracula, on the other hand, looked... also not great on a Fire Emblem character and Caim. Actually, Dracula and Barret put up similar percentages against Layton and Lucina (man their names even look the same) but we know Layton sucks and Lucina probably sucks so what does that mean oh forget it Both Barret and Dracula shouldn't suffer from not being recognizable, but at the same time they're also no longer the most recognizable characters in their matches, so it will actually come down to how much people care. Dracula is somewhat of an iconic villain, he's more visually appealing depending on the picture (hail racistFAQs), and he's in nearly every Castlevania game. I sort of wonder how much people really care about him as he's essentially a recurring boss, but it may help that his quote is borderline legendary, whereas Barret's is pretty eh. Barret... is from FFVII. That's pretty much his only advantage (and it's not like FFVII has looked great either). He probably won't look awful and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he got second as I don't expect much out of Dracula, but I don't think I could bank on people caring about Barret against non-fodder. Honestly this result just makes me think these things should be retired. There's no point in having a GameFAQs contest where the vast majority of the votes are from reddit. I mean, at this point if Draven wins it's pointless to do these because LoL won't be removed ever because Bacon just doesn't do that, and if there's a counter-reddit rally to beat Draven then it's pointless to do anything ever because everything cna just be decided by what subreddit gets more attention. --- ~War~ |
The
mafioso had the men after all. It's done. The power displayed today
renders our history obsolete. A decade of dominance (minus that incident
with the pesky Block) will either end in one week for the elf or he
will master the new power and use it against them. No matter, contests
have changed. The location is irrelevant to the linked swarm. But if Rome's burning, we might as play the fiddle. Sonic looked good in round one and should do well here. Barret did not, and even if Reimu was rallied/stuffed he still failed to double Layton. I don't expect Dracula to be worth much though, with his 58% on FE and Drakengard, and FFVII should do well when fighting over a limited section of the votes, so I'll back the gun-arm man anyway. Sonic - 52.5%; Barret - 25%; Dracula - 22.5% --- We are living our lives Abound with so much information |

I would be more interested if there was another rally to counter Draven that makes the matchup a coinflip. But hey guys I don't see whats wrong with gamefaqs no longer being the niche RPG/Platformer loving site stuck with only foreign characters at the top. Starcraft never did anything like this. This really was unprecedented. Starcraft did have the greatest update in contest history though. Melee-- there was definitely a large contingent of GameFAQs in on it
unlike with this. Keep in mind that Starcraft started that contest by
beating Halo, the #1 hated game on GameFAQs at the time. It was also
the first 16 seed to ever win. There was a lot of GameFAQs backbone

Forget 100%? How about 1%? Because I'm not sure the "rallies" even get that based on vote totals of the next day. I actually think that overall more harm will get done to site traffic than help in the long run from this.
