of these characters, but "under 33.33%" isn't in Nook's because it
implies there's a chance of him losing; likewise "over 40%" isn't really
in Dragonborn's because it implies there's a fairly good shot of it
winning (okay, yes, Garrus managed 40% and still lost by quite a bit,
but that was a two decent characters vs. a fodder match while this is
fodder vs. fodderer vs. fodderest. I'm just not sure which of Pyramid

Division 7: Round 1 - Match 62 – (4) Master Chief vs. (15) Yuna vs. (24) Claire Redfield Moltar’s Analysis Chief http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/2881 Yuna http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/2915 Claire http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/2502 (I hate reminding myself this match happened) Oh Chief, how far have you fallen. Long gone are the days of Game Fuel and Halo ASV. Now you can't even beat Ryu H., who lost to both Kefka and Zack in the same match. Yuna won't have any problem winning if that's the best the Master Chief of today is. Plus, the site as a whole is down on Xbox, so that does him no favors as well. Hell, even Claire might give Chief a challenge, but I don't think he's fallen that far. Moltar’s Prediction: Chief: 33% - Yuna: 43% - Claire: 24% Lopen’s Analysis Not sure why Yuna's the favorite here. I guess it's the loss to Ryu Hayabusa but Yuna's contest history isn't exactly what I'd call lined with great performances either and I'm honestly not sure she'd take Hayabusa 1v1 either. I'd be a bit paranoid if this was a night match but as a day match Chief should walk away with it pretty easily. I've heard theories like Chief is going to be hurt because of the new X-Box backlash-- I don't think that's really going to affect him. Chief's fans aren't going to take it out on him. The bigger reason to be iffy on him is the relatively quiet reception of the newer Halo games, and lower vote totals. Personally I expect Chief to persevere in spite of that-- I think other franchises more soundly taking over as the new casualbait FPS will make people look back more fondly on the iconic Master Chief, who may get some sorta Crash Bandicootlike boost. Also having your most recent release not be the terrible ODST (well Chief wasn't even really in that but I digress) can only help. And, well, I still believe that multiway formats help Chief and while three ways help less than four ways it's still beneficial. That and I just don't really believe in Yuna, so even if Chief doesn't regain any past glory he still has enough to get through this. Yuna's just not that strong and she'll be closer to Claire than Chief here I think. Lopen's prediction: Master Chief - 43.34% Yuna - 30.12% Claire - 26.45% Leonhart’s Analysis When I first looked at the bracket, I immediately jumped on picking Yuna to win here, and I was kinda hoping it would be an upset special for me because Board 8 for some reason has the tendency to pick Master Chief in debated matches even though he’s proven time and again he doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt (Chief/Subby, Chief/Hayabusa). But it looks like B8 is finally wising up because Yuna is the board favorite here! As the Xbox goes, so goes Master Chief, and Xbox’s stock is probably lower on this site than it’s been since the 360 came out. I know Microsoft did some major DAMAGE CONTROL to repair its image after all the initial XBone info came out, but I still think the site hates it. And if you want to express your disdain for Microsoft, there is one face of the Xbox, and that’s Master Chief. Yuna’s
decently strong in her own right, too, although she hasn’t had a fair
opportunity to show it aside from the female bracket in 2006. Oh right,
Claire’s in this match, too. I’m sure Yoblazer is glad to have her back,
but he’ll have to be content with just having her in the contest
because she’s not going anywhere. Leonhart’s Vote: Yuna Leonhart’s Prediction: Yuna – 41.00% Master Chief – 35.00% Claire Redfield – 24.00% Kleenex’s Analysis Hey this match already happened! Sure it was in a year with a Chief on 'roids, but still! In all honesty I don't have a ton of faith in Chief here despite having him in my bracket. Then again, Yuna has never really impressed me either. Claire is here too, but she doesn't matter, she's getting 3rd. Hmm, this is pretty tough. I could probably go back and forth talking about reasons why both characters will disappoint, but someone in the stats topic (Lopen maybe?) said something about how Chief fluctuates in accordance to how Microsoft is perceived, and I kinda think that makes sense. Microsoft is definitely in the receiving end of a lot of scorn these days and I do that could translate to Chief. He's probably not that far off from Yuna in the first place, so... Kleenex's Prediction Chief with 39.00% Yuna with 41.00% Claire with 20.00% Transience’s Analysis You know, someday this site is going to finally accept Master Chief as a nostalgic, iconic character that everyone grew up with. That's probably not yet though. This is a day match which can be kinda scary since Master Chief has the craziest day vote in the world, and he absolutely obliterated Yuna in 2007, but a lot has changed since then. Master Chief is just another shooter guy now and you couldn't convince me to take him in a debatable match anymore. Sorry Lopen. transience's prediction: Yuna with 46%, Master Chief with 33%, Claire with 21% KP's Analysis Once upon a time, Claire Redfield lost to Kairi. 3rd place for her! As for the others, I have absolutely zero faith in Chief here. His time is over, Halo is completely irrelevant on GameFAQs these days, no one actually likes him (outside of Lopen), and he chokes so much. I doubt FFX has had the decline FF7 has, so I'll put my faith in its characters for now. Yuna - 41% Master Chief - 38% Claire - 21% Guest’s Analysis - Luis This one's looking somewhat less debatable than from when brackets were first released! Opinion on Chief has dropped considerably in the meantime, and it's kind of making a mockery of the close affair with Yuna guru brackets would have you believe. Multi-ways be damned, I don't think Chief has the legs any more to make a run at 1st here. In fact I'm sorely tempted to take Claire for the mini-upset and take 2nd place. Or at least I would if Capcom had any intention of making her a lead any time soon (or ever again), and the noises coming from inside is that they don't. Since 2006 she's had, what, Darkside Chronicles? The best that will probably do her is higher quality match pics unfortunately, since a primarily Wii-based on-rails shooter doesn't really stand up to something like Halo 4 in terms of exposure, even on GameFAQs. Oh well, at least she can potentially embarrass Chief on the way down. Division 7: Round 1 - Match 63 – (7) Tifa Lockheart vs. (12) Cirno vs. (21) Chun-Li Moltar’s Analysis Tifa The Jug Factor Cirno The Anime Factor Chun-Li The Thigh Factor This match reminds me of the Barret/Layton/Reimu match for obvious reasons, except stronger since Tifa > Barret, Chun > Layton, Cirno > Reimu (probably, at least in rally potential). Chun actually looked pretty good in the Female Bracket back in 2006 (yes this was a thing that happened) by beating Lara and getting 40% on Yuna. Obviously if she can't beat Yuna, she can't beat Tifa. Still, FF7 has looked bad though, and Chun is still relevant in gaming today. She'll take a distant but not too distant second. Cirno takes last, but she'll get rallied for a few hours or so and end up looking okay like Reimu did. Moltar’s Prediction: Tifa: 50% - Cirno: 16% - Chun-Li: 34% Lopen’s Analysis I'm one of the few who doesn't really mind seeing Touhous in the contest, but Cirno is just a stupid entry. If you're going to nominate a side character from a series that should be ecstatic to even get the main characters in, why not nominate one who actually has a good design like Utsuho. I blame Tom. Uhhh... anyway... yeah so Cirno's pic isn't even cute like Reimu's was and she lost any pic advantage she could've even potentially had by going against quite literally T and A here, so I think her percentage is going to be as terrible as you'd expect from a Touhou without that in her corner-- man is this some kinda weird joke? Hey GameFAQs, do you prefer boobs, ass, or 9 year old girls? Lopen's prediction: Tifa - 49.45% Chun Li - 41.46% CirNO - 9.09% Leonhart’s Analysis Final Fantasy VII has been underwhelming up to this point. Do I expect Tifa to suffer the same fate? Probably a little, but she has two big reasons why she should hold up better than the other FFVII characters do, and those reasons are front and center in that match pic despite her not even being the middle character! Her being in a match with two other females probably helps her out a little bit, too, depending on how SEXIST and OBJECTIFYING you think the population of this site is. Cirno and Chun-Li will probably do fine here though. Not that it really matters one way or the other because Tifa’s path is pretty much locked in at this point barring something really weird. She could be weaker, and it won’t have much of an effect on her because there’s no one who could take advantage of it and surprise her before she hits Samus and Auron. What a boring division. Kleenex’s Analysis Rushing around, so I'll make this quick. I don't want to blow any minds here, but Tifa's gonna win. I think Chun Li takes second pretty comfortably. Yeah, the other Touhou character so far did alright, but the description says that Cirno is an idiot! Also Chun Li should be pretty good because fighting games are cool again. Kleenex's Prediction Tifa with 55.00% Cirno with 15.00% Chun Li with 30.00% Transience’s Analysis Girl power zone. We've got big jugs mcgee, some to-ho character that will get the requisite 15% from /v/ or whatever, and then the OG fighting game girl. This should be really, really boring. Good thing most of us will be asleep for most of this one. transience's prediction: Tifa with 53%, Chun Li with 32%, Cirno with 15% KP's Analysis This match should neatly go in order of descending cup size. The only thing to take away from this match is how badly Tifa bombs. Maybe she's the one FF7 character to do well in Round 1, but that would kinda suck. Tifa - 50% Chun - 35% Cirno - 15% Guest’s Analysis - AKJ Finally, SBAllen gives the people what they want. Almost. I mean it's obvious Fighting Games are the one true genre of video games, and we ALMOST have a match between three fighting game characters here. Oh well, I think we can still analyze it as such. Chun-Li is the girl that gets beat up at the beginning of Double Dragon, and Ryu and Ken spend the game trying to rescue her. I was never sure whose girlfriend she was. If it was just Ryu, then why does Ken do so much to help his bro? But maybe it's both of them? I'm not gonna judge! Chun is known for being cosplayed by people of all body types Tifa is from a the hit fighting game Ergheiz. You may have seen the intense finals at Evo 2013? I did not expect that comeback at all! Anyway, Tifa is the main character and is most well known for having some enormous plot on her. Everywhere she goes you can't help but watch that plot. I really don't understand why a character designed for fisticuffs needs so much plot but hey, whatever! Cirno is not from any of the four Touhou Fighting Games. She's from a funny youtube video where she says baka baka baka and I think I've seriously watched it over 50 times over the years. Her whole gimmick is she's dumb so she will clearly resonate with the average gamefaqs voter. Anyway this obviously comes down to fighting game heirarchy. Fawful is very, very weak (like got doubled by GlaDOS weak), while Duke is actually strong enough to win a match against fodder (like Fawful). Of course, Mario domination. Duke's probably lost a step or two since the previous contests due to Duke Nukem Forever being released and was not only awful, but probably killed all the jokeish votes Duke used to get. Guest’s Analysis - Kotetsu Another division, another Noble Niner stomping two unlucky opponents. Link and Solid Snake are the only two who've so far managed to break 70%, but I expect Mario to join them here. In CBVIII Mario drew Falco Lombardi in R1 and laid down the SFF hammer hard enough to reach a quadrupling, and Falco's much less a weakling than the pathetic Fawful, who got doubled by GlaDOS. I think he'll be Goomba-stomped into the single digits. So it falls to Duke to hold Mario down, but he's weak. If you assume a constant Charizard Mario would still be projected to break 70% on him, and I don't think anyone believes the Charizard that doubled Duke was anything like the crazed beast that Mario had to deal with, so he should go a good deal higher. Let's say he about pulls off the tripling.
