Character Battle IX Contest Analysis Crew - Part 2
Kleenex’s Analysis While Wheatley wasn't able to put away Crash, GLaDOS should have no problem taking care of the Sony "icon" in this match. GLaDOS is certainly stronger than Wheatley (which reminds me, people should have nominated Cave Johnson too), and Cole has to be weaker than Crash. Infamous is certainly more in the spotlight than it used to be a couple years ago, but I'm under the impression that people who enjoy Infamous don't even really like Cole. And good lord does he have a boring character design. As is usually the case there is a third character in this match too, but it doesn't matter because it's literally a dude from BlazBlue. Kleenex's Prediction GLaDOS with 56.00% Cole with 31.00% Ragna with 13.00% Transience’s Analysis HOW HIGH CAN GLADOS GO? COLE IS KIND OF A JOKE TO MOST GAMEFAQS USERS AND SOME BLAZBLUE GUY WILL GET HIS REQUISITE TEN PERCENT AND GO HOME. BUT DOES THAT MEAN GLADOS CAN BREAK 50, MAYBE 60%? WITH THAT DESIGN, ALL WHILE BEING LARGELY KNOWN FOR HER VOICE MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE? I GUESS SO. I MEAN, WHO THE HELL ELSE ARE YOU GOING TO VOTE FOR? COLE? TRANSIENCE'S PREDICTION: GLADOS WITH 58%, COLE WITH 31%, RAGNA WITH 11% KP's Analysis GlaDOS is more well-known and popular than in 2010, but Portal as a whole has come down from its zenith. She should be at least a little better, I think. Cole should get an easy 2nd by virtue of that time Sony put Infamous up for free as a reward for the servers getting hacked. Everyone played it when that happened. Ragna should be happy to get 15%, BlazBlue is not going to be popular here whatsoever. GlaDOS - 54% Cole - 31% Ragna - 15% Guest’s Analysis - pjbasis I think I signed up for this match so I can be the inFamous fanboy of the group, but I don't think I can take him to go higher than 30%. GlaDOS isn't a bastion of strength, but Cole is not the kind of guy GameFAQs cares about. The only silver lining is inFamous 1 actually managing to even make it to Game of the Decade, and I THINK 2 is the more popular game, so it might have gotten a little stronger since then. And then SECOND SON HYPE, SON I'm still scared he'll lose to RAGUNA ZA BRAHDO EJJI. But who plays Blazybloo right? Why the heck is he not listed as Cole MACGRATH anyway. They say his full name in the games like he's John Smith, but never used Final Fantasy last names get listed. Division 4: Round 1 - Match 32 – (5) Ike vs. (14) Proto Man vs. (23) Dr. Ivo '"Eggman" Robotnik Moltar’s Analysis Ike GameFAQs likes Ike Proto Man He can't Glitch Bomb his way to victory here Robotnik not Eggman No one here is super weak, but Ike should take this without too much of an issue. We've only seen Proto a few times and while he doesn't look bad, all he has is 27% on Snake. Ike's been more impressive than that. Robotnik has been absent since the Villains Contest (no the rivalry rumble didn't happen and yes i'm briefly recognizing the villains contest). He was weak then, but at least he's recognizable. It won't help him here since people actually like and want to vote for Ike and Proto, but he's probably not going to die here. So overall, Ike has decent competition here. He'll win, but he won't go all God-mode on them. Moltar’s Bracket: Ike > Proto Man > Robotnik Moltar’s Prediction: Ike: 43% - Proto Man: 32% - Robotnik: 25% Lopen’s Analysis Finally Protoman (yeah it's one word deal) gets a chance to shine! He's always been paired against Zero or big icons that can take away his "hell yeah it's Protoman... badass" factor. And all things considered, his match with Snake was pretty respectable-- respectable enough to make his match with Ike debatable from a straight stats perspective. But I think given midcarder opponents Protoman will really spread his wings. I expect him to have a sorta Pac-Man style voting to him... people know Protoman, they respect Protoman, but I don't think they're terribly loyal to Protoman. But this is his chance. This is his chance to crush this midcarder scum. Chicks dig the whistle and the scarf and the shades. The site is only 6% chicks, so it's a good thing the dudes dig it too. Protoman is a bad mother. Also worth noting that this site has also been voting pretty nostalgically, and I think Proto can only be helped by this. Robotnik will be too but Protoman should be stronger than him. Lopen's prediction: Protoman - 41% Ike - 36% You can't win a contest match without breaking a few eggs...man... - 23% Leonhart’s Analysis I feel like Ike should win this comfortably. Ike and Protoman both faced Noble Niners in 2010 and put up similar performances. The difference is that Ike faced Mario and probably got SFF’d a decent bit, which should put him well ahead. I’d love to see Protoman win since this is his first winnable draw in his three contest appearances, but Mega Man as a series has continued to fall into irrelevance since 2010. Yeah, I know Mega Man was announced for SSB4, but I don’t expect any sort of boost he gets to extend to the series as a whole. I don’t see Robotnik being in contention here. The only time we saw him, he needed perhaps the worst non-sprite match pic in history to beat Sin (TAI’D UP AND HANG’D), and he did worse against Ganondorf than Ansem did. You know, the Ansem who was losing to CATS for several hours. Yeah, I think that about sums it up. I wouldn’t pick Tails or Shadow to win here, and Robotnik’s going to be weaker than either of them. Kleenex’s Analysis I always kind of overestimate Ike in these contests. In my bracket making mind, Ike cleaned up this match pretty easy. I think I convinced myself that Protoman and Robotnik have some kind of red costume overlap, I don't know. Anyway, now that I've considered it a bit more it seems likely that this will be a pretty close match (Robotnik should be the non-factor this time around). They were pretty close in the 2010 stats, not that I'm one to really adhere to that kind of thing. I'm pretty sure the tipping point in this match is that it's during the day when Ike should shine and Protoman should, well, not. Kleenex's Prediction Ike with 38.00% Protoman with 36.00% Robotnik with 26.00% Transience’s Analysis IKE WINS. HE'S THE ONLY ONE STILL RELEVANT, THE ONLY REAL NINTENDO CHARACTER, AND I ALWAYS GET THE SENSE THAT MEGA MAN AND SONIC HAVE SOME KIND OF OVERLAP WHILE IKE IS JUST AN RPG/FIGHTING GAME CHARACTER. IKE WINS EASILY. PROTO MAN VS. ROBOTNIK... I DON'T KNOW. PROTO MAN'S COOLER BUT ROBOTNIK IS MORE ICONIC. PROTO MAN'S ONE OF THOSE GUYS WHO HAS NEVER GOTTEN A REALLY GOOD CHANCE TO SHINE, WHILE ROBOTNIK'S ONLY REAL MATCH IS GOING UP AGAINST GANONDORF WHO IS THE SECOND WORST GUY HE COULD HAVE DRAWN AFTER BOWSER. I GUESS I'LL SIDE WITH PERSONAL PREFERENCE AND BACK PROTO MAN. DOES ANYBODY ACTUALLY LIKE ROBOTNIK? I GUESS WE'LL FIND OUT TRANSIENCE'S PREDICTION: IKE WITH 46%, PROTO MAN WITH 28%, ROBOTNIK WITH 26% KP's Analysis Bit of an odd match. Robotnik could win this if he's secretly more powerful than we think, but based on what he did in the Villains Contest, probably not. Dude almost lost to Sin. Proto Man has only been in twice, where he got SFFd by Zero and did surprisingly good against Solid Snake. Based on that latter performance, he could beat Ike here. We never got a proper read on Ike thanks to a bunch of SFF. But...Ike basically has everything going for him. His projected value is higher, he's more relevant, he's got more of a dedicated fanbase. Any one of these guys could win, but there's not really a reason to pick against Ike, I think. Ike - 38% Proto Man - 35% Robotnik - 27% Guest’s Analysis - DChemist Ike is the heavy favorite here. He gets most of his strength from being a Smash character. Protoman came before Zero, but he's not as popular as Zero, unfortunately. Robotnik is Sonic's rival, a well-known villain.
