my goal is to be that snarky every match but 12 hour matches between nobodies wears me down --- xyzzy |
I guess I'll just post mine! (1) Sephiroth (18) Midna (27) Little Mac This could be a match where Sephiroth ends up looking bad due to ANTI-VOTES or whatever, but I doubt it. I don't think anyone cares about Midna or Little Mac in 2013. He should score decently well here. As for Midna vs. Little Mac...I guess Mac could win this, but he hasn't looked too good in his matches. Neither has Midna, but she has a few 4-way wins under her belt, at least. Mac desperately needs an announcement for SSB4 or I think he's just going to keep languishing. Sephiroth - 62% Midna - 21% Little Mac - 17% --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |

I
still find Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy VII to be very much
playable and enjoyable today, even without any "nostalgia goggles".
Especially so in the case of the latter game since I only got around to
playing it for the first time recently. Even as far as Ocarina of Time is concerned, I didn't enjoy it a whole lot when I played it the 2nd time, then I replayed it last year and out of nowhere found it to be such a good game, and an absolutely magical experience. I honestly kinda feel that both games are underappreciated nowadays. And I don't really understand how either game has not "aged well". Especially not Final Fantasy VII, considering where its series is now. --- Currently Playing - Super Metroid, MGS4, Brawl, FFVII, Wind Waker, RE4, SOTC |

Division 3: Round 1 - Match 20 – (6) Morrigan Aensland vs. (13) Miles Edgeworth vs. (22) Agent 47 Moltar’s Analysis Morrigan Last time we saw her was over a decade ago. TJF truly making its return this year. Edgeworth Not to be confused with Miles Prower Agent 47 Putting a hit out on Edgeworth, will he succeed? Weird match here. None of these characters are all that strong, but Morrigan is going to easily walk away here despite missing every contest since 2002. She's beaten Spyro and got doubled by Mario, which...isn't really all that bad. Thanks to MvC3, she has become relevant again and gotten some newfound strength, so this match is hers to lose. The real challenge for the experts is deciding who takes second. The Phoenix Wright series has gotten stronger over time, and the character himself looked good in his match, but Edgeworth is still fodder in every match he has been in. Meanwhile, Agent 47 put up 30% on Sora and did this http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/2866. Admittedly, it's not much, but it's more than Edgeworth's ever done. The question is if 47's fallen far enough and if Edgey's strong enough now to turn the tide. I'm going to say...yes. The vote totals have shrunk enough and PW is liked enough that even if does Edgey only has a small turnout, it should be enough to beat 47. Also, we've seen enough characters like 47 underperform and get distant thirds in their matches that makes me think he's not going to look good here. Moltar’s Bracket: Morrigan > Edgeworth > Agent 47 Moltar’s Prediction: Morrigan: 43% - Edgeworth: 34% - Agent 47: 23% Lopen’s Analysis Yo, Morrigan's pretty hot, man. I was anti-hyping the Juliet pic but this is the real deal. Edgeworth is in the middle trying to flaunt his LOGIC but the world is a pretty shallow place, no one's down wit that. Anyway I think x-stats say Agent 47 wins second here but I think Edgeworth will come out strong enough to take him. Phoenix Wright as a series should be more respectable with the lower vote intake. We just saw it with Phoenix making a debatable match undebatable and I expect Edgeworth to do the same. Phoenix Wright also seems like the series that'll get stronger and stronger as word of mouth has more people trying it-- it's just hard to outright dislike the games. Well, he might put the fear into Morrigan a bit. I do think Edgey taking first is more likely than him taking third right now. But Morrigan's appeal admittedly is mostly design so I doubt she's much weaker than 2002, which is well above Edgeworth level. You could maybe argue her strength was inflated back then, but eh. I think she'll hold out... not terribly comfortably, but well enough. Let's just hope the Chris G anti-vote doesn't show up, eh? Lopen's prediction: Morrigan - 38.28% Miles Edgeworth - 35.04% Agent 47 - 26.68% Leonhart’s Analysis Kind of strange to think that it’s been 11 years between contest appearances for Morrigan. She did well back then, and she’s in prime position to do well again. Don’t let Phoenix’s performance a few days fool you into thinking Edgeworth has a shot of doing something other than finish last. First of all, Phoenix is the face of Ace Attorney. There’s a reason why the series nearly died after Apollo Justice and two Edgeworth games, and Capcom knew they had to bring Phoenix back in order for the series to survive. Plus, we had a poll a couple years ago that showed that over half the site is familiar with the “Objection!” meme. So while it’s a bit of a stretch to call Phoenix iconic, he’s way more recognizable to the average gamer than Edgeworth. --- Moltar Status: Crew Contest Analysis Crew Archives: http://thecrew.speedrunwiki.com/ |
I’m
not entirely sure what to think of Agent 47 here. Hitman has never been
this site’s cup of tea, and while he put up a decent showing on Midna
in 2007, at the same time, he lost to Kratos Aurion in that same poll.
While he had a Hitman game relatively recently, it was apparently not
well received. GameFAQs isn’t that big on fighting games either, but
Morrigan’s probably still the most well known commodity in this match.
Plus, the match pic should seal the deal regardless. Leonhart’s Vote: Miles Edgeworth Leonhart’s Prediction: Morrigan Aensland – 47.00% Agent 47 – 30.00% Miles Edgeworth – 23.00% Kleenex’s Analysis This division blows. Morrigan should win this on account of Edgeworth and Agent 47 sucking and also she has boobs. Edgeworth vs. 47 for 2nd place is kind of a crapshoot. Edgeworth has never come close to having the 'success' that Phoenix has, and honestly Agent 47's two contest matches impress me more than Edgeworth's. That's kind of terrifying to think about. Kleenex's Prediction Morrigan with 49.42% Edgeworth with 23.34% Agent 47 with 26.24% Transience’s Analysis I'm honestly not sure why people are backing Morrigan so hard. My first instinct on this match was Agent 47, actually, though that's more because Edgeworth is pretty damn weak and Morrigan has never shown strength. I think people think she'll win because of her breasts more than anything, and we saw how that went with Juliet. Morrigan's biggest strength right now, if you ask me, is that she's front and center in MVC3. I don't understand what the Darkstalkers series does to make her all that popular. But I'll back her, because guys like Agent 47 have been utter garbage this contest, and because I don't trust Edgeworth to be anywhere near Phoenix, plus it's a day match. I bet this is a unanimous Crew pick unless there's some Edgeworth superfan amongst us, and I have a pretty big Crew curse feeling going on. But I don't really see anyone else to pick, you know? I have a hard time even imagining 47 and Edgey hitting 20%, and so my pick is an easy Morrigan win even though I don't actually believe it at all. transience's prediction: Morrigan with 44%, Edgeworth with 30%, Agent 47 with 26% KP's Analysis Morrigan gets first fairly easily, I think. The other two are pretty terrible, and Morrigan has some decent performances (from 2002). Darkstalkers is really weak, but Morrigan isn't really Darkstalkers anymore. I think Capcom putting her in every game they have has kept her relevant, and if all else fails, she has TJF to fall back on. Edgeworth vs. Agent 47 is a weird match. I originally had Agent 47 winning pretty easily, but after seeing Phoenix's performance and considering some more thing, I guess Edgeworth could win? He's certainly got more fans that actually care about him. Agent 47 has always seemed like more of an avatar for the Hitman series, and the Hitman series isn't doing so well right now. A new one was released but no one seemed to like it. Edgeworth got annihilated by Big Boss, but I'm not sure 47 would do any better these days. Actually, in addition to all that, I think I'll side with Edgeworth simply because of 47's seed. The fact that he only got a 22 seed despite a recent game speaks a lot about how people feel about the Hitman series right now, I think. We've been seeing a lot of 3rd places like that bomb - characters that wouldn't be here if not for the very large field. People who are just voting for a random character they know will probably go with Morrigan, as well. 47 probably wins anyway, but whatever, I like Edgeworth more. Morrigan - 37% Edgeworth - 32% Agent 47 - 31% --- Moltar Status: Crew Contest Analysis Crew Archives: http://thecrew.speedrunwiki.com/ |
Guest’s Analysis - ZenOfThunder Morrigan: She's a succubus, so she's definitely had some experience. I'm not sure how often she needs to "recharge," but she's a couple hundred years old, so she's probably done it with, like, several thousand men. Edgeworth: He's a successful prosecutor who wears a cravat, and even thought he has some serious daddy issues, he's had his fair share of lovers for sure. Agent 47: A killer clone who doesn't have time for love. He did have sex in the movie, but that's because Hollywood didn't capture the soul of the Hitman series: Kill as many people as-- Wait- Wait wait wait, I'm analyzing the ACTUAL MATCH? Not how much the characters have had sex? Somebody wants me to seriously predict things in a real contest setting? I… I don't do that. I talk about boobs and make match pics featuring boobs. I don't… Ehhh whatever nobody is going to take me seriously anyway. Let's look at our characters: Let's start by talking Morrigan. Right here is the founder of TJF, "the Jug Factor," if that means anything after Juliet bombed so hard. Morrigan is a breakout character, but nobody cares about Darkstalkers itself. Really, nobody! Resurrection was released this year and nobody bought it. Instead, Morrigan is best known for being a guest in numerous other games. Her original sprite from Darkstalkers was copy/pasted into like a dozen crossover games. Then we have Edgeworth who is also Capcom, but I'm gonna say if Edgeworth looks weak it's just because Edgeworth is super weak as I doubt Morrigan's fanbase crosses with PW. He's great but he's the not-title character from a niche visual novel series, and even though he had a spinoff it didn't sell well enough to warrant the sequel coming stateside. Then we have Agent 47, who is like, that one guy that Vin Diesel almost played in a movie that nobody liked, and he is coming off a recent game that alienated old fans and didn't capture the attention of new ones at the same time. There was also an HD re-release of his three best games (which is on sale on both Amazon and Steam right now!), but honestly Agent 47 isn't much of a "character" and is more of an avatar. The suit with red tie looks pretty boss, though. So we've got living TJF and a Capcom mascot, a Capcom lawyer with a limited fanbase, and a bald hitman nobody likes (not even his fans). I was originally going to have Morrigan run away with this, but after Juliet… Morrigan: 40.33% Edgeworth: 21.55% Agent 47: 38.12% Thank you for letting me be a guest. guess so! Board 8's love for PW might be warping my sense of his wider
