Poor Vincent, the guy has beaten Noble Nine members and still can't get enough noms to earn a respectable seed. Neither KOS-MOS nor Dunban even come close to the Noble Nine, so that right there tells you that Vincent is going to win here and win big.

We've seen KOS-MOS and she's decent high-fodder, which is more than I can say for Dunban. She's got second place all locked up.

Vincent should be okay to beat the hot death bot because he's not black, but it'll be interesting to see just how seething the FFVII hate is vs how much of it is racism. I mean Vincent's soul is black but I don't think that's quite the same thing.

Much like Caim a few days ago I don't know remember who the third guy is so he must be from Lost Odyssey or Xenoblade or... he's not from Drakkengard is he!?! Let's hope not.

If you love RPGs, this match is for you! Unless you don’t particularly like FFVII (or Vincent), then this match may not be for you. While FFVII may have lost a step in recent years, Vinny’s still got this match on lockdown. We haven’t seen KOS-MOS in a while and Xenosaga hasn’t been relevant (relatively speaking, of course) in forever, so I’m not sure how well she’ll do here. She’ll probably get a decent amount of votes just based off of her design though, so I think she’ll get second here. Not expecting much from Dunban though. I’ve never played Xenoblade, but he’s not usually the guy I hear people talking about, so I don’t think he’ll wind up being surprisingly decent here.

also I will laugh at anyone who predicts this match will have “Xeno LFF”

RPG zone. We all know Vincent's getting first here, there's not much to discuss as far as that's concerned. What this match really is, is a chance for Xenoblade to prove its worth, against another Xeno property, no less! Unfortunately I don't think it's going to do it. KOS-MOS has been shockingly capable of looking respectable in every match she's been in. It's kind of a shame she didn't make it into the 2010 contest (I didn't realize this until just now - how did she get a 5 seed here but fail to make it in then?) She's even farther removed from her games than she was the last time we saw her, but I just...don't have a good feeling about Xenoblade. The zeitgeist has passed and while the game is still held in high regard it's just not talked about as much anymore. Dunban did kind of get a bum matchup here, but KOS-MOS should take down second place.

Also she's the only one in the match with boobs so there's that.

KP's Analysis

I'd love to see Dunban get 2nd here, but I'm not sure how he does. KOS-MOS has always been stronger than she has any right to be and is the main character of her series (Shion doesn't exist). Dunban isn't the main character and Xenoblade is very untested. The game's character overall would need to be pretty strong for a non-main character to beat someone legitimate like KOS-MOS, and I'm not willing to pull the trigger on that.

Vincent's performance here should help shed light on whether or not Barret was simply RacistFAQs or a sign of FF7 dropping overall.

Vincent - 56%

Guest’s Analysis - Ctes

Okay, so it was cool seeing KOS-MOS seemingly getting a victory until a very underseeded Vincent was thrown in here. Anti-FFVII will keep it away from the very high percentages, but Vincent is gonna win this one with ease. I don't think the anti-FFVII voting is as big as people think after Barret. I just think Barret isn't that strong. Look at Shepard and his competition. Barret wasn't that bad. KOS-MOS is at least fairly good. We don't about Dunban. This match would be good to get an early judgement on Shulk and Reyn, but I think there'll be some kind of LFF here, that allows Vincent to do even better.

Thus Vincent should finish somewhere around 50-60%. Due to his near elite status, I'll put him in the better half. I don't believe this match will tell us much about Sonic vs. Vincent yet. Vincent likely has stronger competition, but his likely has LFF involved so you really can't tell. As for second place, KOS-MOS and Dunban probably aren't that far from each other, though SFF might make someone look worse than reality. I'm pretty confident KOS-MOS will get second, but Dunban taking it is not impossible.

But uh in all seriousness I don't like this result from Vincent. He'll go up but starting at 57% on KOS-MOS isn't too hot. Considering this is happening the day after Barret did worse on Layton than Isaac, it's worth thinking about.

I don't even like Dunban that much! I just think the other two games/characters in this poll are bad!

I think this is the '3rd place factor' rearing it's head again, though. Maybe Dunban is really worth 18% on Vincent and Nightmare is really worth 30% on Phoenix, but that seems kind of out there to me. We've seen this happen enough times to the point where it's becoming almost trend!

Tough call. FF7's definitely down, so an LFF is perhaps kind of dangerous, but Aerith's beating of Rinoa suggests that FF7 can still put up strong numbers when SFFing something else FF, and there's really no way of knowing until the match happens if Ryu H has fallen or not.

Well, that's just the thing. I had Ryu H because I thought Kefka would leech Zack, but I just realized that there is absolutely no reason for Ryu H to be as strong as he's been in the past.

Vincent himself and Tifa would beg to differ, at least judging off of last contest. Unless you want to hold Vincent/Guybrush against Vincent because he barely did better than Ryo Hazuki I guess, but then again Guybrush would probably beat Ryo or at least break 40% on him now.

Even then, while Vincent may lose some of his obvious favorite anti-votes (which is a shady theory considering he's a lowly 23 seed), the normal FFVII anti-votes he gets will last right up to his match against Sonic. I can't see Sonic failing to break 60% here.

For the record, I took the Vincent upset solely on the basis of me being a huge fan of his already even though I just met him in FFVII. I remember being so excited to meet him, and he did not disappoint me one bit when I did.

Hayabusa's seeding already indicates that he's in trouble (going from a 7 in 2010 to a 21 here...somehow I find it hilarious that he's seeded lower than Ridley. Man, Team Ninja has seriously fallen on hard times...and I might actually start replaying Metroid: Other M soon, argh). Then there's how well he performed in 2008, when he was coming off of Ninja Gaiden II, compared to all of his other performances.

Honestly, I have no idea who I picked to win that. I think I once switched to Master Chief > Yuna and Crash > Wheatley before Leon convinced me not to go with the former, and I decided that Ninja Gaiden III would put Hayabusa at a serious disadvantage compared to last year so I kept with Zack. Stupidly enough, KEFKA is the one of those three least likely to decrease in strength, which is probably why I had him winning for a while - me being down on FFVII/NG...
