I'm the only one who had Link lower than 80% and I'm still calling for a beatdown. Link is the Hulk Hogan of the character battles. Dominant for a decade, but he's all washed up now and just ready to get crushed by the upstarts. Yes that makes Cloud the Ultimate Warrior. Division 1: Round 1 - Match 4 – (2) Commander Shepard vs. (17) Captain Olimar vs. (26) Kain Moltar’s Analysis Shepard Rare footage of a strong recent western character on GameFAQs Olimar is pikmin 3 out yet Kain Kane > Kain (lopen knows) Shepard moving on up to a 2 seed. Overseeded, true, but it also is true that s/he has been getting stronger over the years. S/he got Mass Effect 3 since the last contest, and while the game itself wasn't well-received, people still love the Commander. Olimar and Kain are fodder so Shepard isn't going to lose here. Shep does need to win big to put him/herself in a good position for his/her next match though, but I don't see that happening. I think FemShep underperforms here because she's not as easily recognizable as MaleShep (even though she is superior). As for second place, I'll take weak Nintendo that has Smash support over weak and old whatever. Moltar’s Bracket: Shepard > Olimar > Kain Moltar’s Prediction: Shepard: 53% - Olimar: 28% - Kain: 19% Lopen’s Analysis Pretty boring match. Only fun part to speculate over is whether femshep matters or not. But I mean, it's not going to flip the result here so whatever. Makes things kinda MYSTERIOUS if next round she becomes a he, I guess. Doubt it matters much as her conservative spacesuit... armor... whatever... means she is less capable of exploiting TJF. Kain hasn't been relevant in about 10 years so moonman Ziggy probably takes an easy second place off of Smash alone. Lopen's prediction: Commander Shepard - 51.12% Ziggy Moondust - 28.04% Bah gawd it's KAIN - 20.84% Leonhart’s Analysis This is the ideal scenario for Shepard to flex his muscles in preparation for his round 2 showdown with Aerith. While we’ve never gotten a totally clear read on Olimar and we haven’t seen Kain since 2004, they’re both known commodities. Olimar is about as low on the Nintendo chain as it gets for someone who’s been in a Smash Bros. game, and Kain wasn’t popular back when his game was relatively new. Shepard’s proven he’s capable of blowing out fodder before. If he doesn’t rock this match hard, it’s not going to inspire confidence for those picking him to beat Aerith (like me). (Also if you don’t like me referring to Shepard as “he” and “him,” too bad. MaleShep all the way, baby!) Leonhart’s Vote: Commander Shepard Leonhart’s Prediction Commander Shepard – 63.50% Captain Olimar – 19.50% Kain – 17.00% Kleenex’s Analysis This is the first match that I'm actively interested in, not because it'll be close, but because I'm curious to see how far Shepard has come now that the Mass Effect Trilogy has finished, and if he actully got hurt by the ME3 backlash (spoilers: he didn't). I think Shep had a fairly impressive showing back in 2010, hot off the heels of ME2, and Mass Effect is exponentially more popular than it was three years ago. There's
a pretty good chance Shepard really crushes this poll, and I hope he
(she) does. Having an elite new character added to the contest ranks
would be nice. The likes of Olimar and Kain are most certainly not
going to prove much of a challenge. Olimar is poop, and Pikmin 3 being
just around the corner probably isn't helping. Kain is super poop.
Maybe people cared about Legacy of Kain 10+ years ago, but they
certainly do not now. I'd be shocked if most of the voters knew who
Kain even was. This could get really ugly. NOTE: Same stuff as this morning. This is the actual worst. I hope Link just lost his ability to blowout Tingle and...oh who am I kidding. Kleenex's Prediction Shepard with 63.8% Olimar with 19.1% Kain with 17.1% Transience’s Analysis UNLIKE THE LAST FEW MATCHES, KAIN AND OLIMAR ARE NOT COMPLETE GARBAGE. BUT THEY ARE CLOSE. PRIOR TO EVERY HUGE FAVOURITE TAKING A HUGE DUMP ON THE POLLS, I WOULD HAVE TAKEN SHEPARD FOR SOME ABSURD PERCENTAGE, BUT HE'LL PROBABLY JUST HIT 50% AND STAY THERE IN A VERY UNEXCITING WAY AS FOR WHO WINS BETWEEN THOSE OTHER GUYS.... I HAVE NO IDEA, BUT OLIMAR IS IN BRAWL SO TRANSIENCE'S PREDICTION: LADY SHEPARD WITH 51.11%, OLIMAR WITH 26.56%, KAIN WITH 22.33% KP's Analysis Not sure how Femshep affects this. I'll just assume people aren't dumb and that it'll be the same as Male Shepard, but considering what happened to Samus that one time against Tifa, who knows. Still wins either way because Kain and Olimar aren't gonna be worth anything. I think Kain takes Olimar, although that's a little upset special I feel worse about every day. Even taking into account Waluigi somehow having strength and the Middle Standout Factor and Kain being far past relevant, Olimar has a treated us to a string of godawful results. Without Brawl no one knows he exists, and even then no one cares about him. Kain has a cool name and a few surprisingly decent results, which is enough for me to take him over someone that lost to Banjo (while being quintupled by Mega Man). Shepard - 61% Kain - 20% Olimar - 19% Guest’s Analysis - Ctes Another match and another easy point for our brackets. I suppose it'll at least be interesting to see how Shepard does with a female picture. He is facing some of the worst characters in these things though, so while it might affect other matches, I have a feeling those people will just vote Shepard here anyway. The expert challenge provides something to look forward to in this match though, because I believe both Olimar and Kain have a fair chance of getting second. Olimar has always sucked as much as possible in these things and Kain hasn't mattered in forever. Kain's battle against Kirby in 2004 does look better than anything Olimar has ever done, even though that was Kirby before he became good in these things. In any case, I'm gonna go ahead with what seems to be an upset and pick Kain to get second here. I do think it will be close, but I refuse to believe Olimar can do anything before he does. Pikmin 3 hype? Doesn't matter. Feel free to surprise me by not being the absolute worst Olimar. Also, if Shepard loses some voters with a female picture, I suppose they're more likely to go to Kain than Olimar, but I had Kain getting second before we saw the match picture. Commander Shepard – 61% Captain Olimar – 19% Kain – 20% Hmm, Kain's name looks a little pathetic next to commander and captain. I'd go much higher with Shepard, but it seems like getting higher percentages than this won't be very common this year. faced an arguably stronger group and got 60%, and if Shepard wants to
beat Aeris then Yoshi level is about where he needs to be. Not feeling

isn't *that* good. The last fair read we've had on him is when Squall
wrecked him in 2008, and considering Aeris got 42% on Auron I'd say they
seem about even. I'd probably take Yoshi but it wouldn't be a blowout

these two destroy the two Yoshi had. Olimar would 60-40 either of
Yoshi's opponents and I think Kain vs Dark Souls guy is a really close
