(1) Mega Man X/Zero vs. (5) Bartz Klauser/Gilgamesh (R1) Mega Man X/Zero: 80.45% vs. Captain Falcon/Black Shadow (R1) Bartz Klauser/Gilgamesh: 64.24% on Guybrush Threepwood vs. LeChuck Another predestined blowout. X/Zero is, I would expect, one of the top five strongest rivalries in the contest, while Bartz/Gilgamesh is... decent fodder. If you set their round one opponents equal to each other, you get a projection of 73/27. I'd expect Falcon/Shadow are slightly stronger than Guybrush/LeChuck - they did make it through a vote-in, after all, which I don't think Guybrush could've managed, and Bartz took Guybrush on in a day match, which skews that result a little. Anything in the mid-high 70s wouldn't surprise me, nor would something in the low 80s. Mega Man X vs. Zero with 79.22% of the vote. --- Praise the Black Turtle, Game of the Decade Guru Champ. Northeast Division: Round 2 - Match 35 – (1) X/Zero vs. (5) Bartz/Gilgamesh Moltar’s Analysis X/Zero Round 1 - 80.45% vs. Falcon/Shadow That’s our Guru pick Bartz/Gilgamesh Round 1 - 64.24% vs. Guybrush/LeChuck The fact that Guybrush broke 20% makes this a bad showing X/Zero are going to crush a team that couldn’t even double Guybrush, how fun. Falcon/Shadow may have even had a chance of beating the FF5 team. This probably doesn’t hit 80% because X/Zero aren’t facing Nintendo, but this should still be at least a tripling. Moltar’s Bracket: X/Zero Moltar’s Prediction: X/Zero - 77% Lopen’s Analysis On the last episode, Mega Man vs Zero GOT EQUIPPED with “Show Me Your Moves!” which will be used to dangerous effect. Now unlike the Captain Falcon guy, Gilgamesh can and Bartz can perhaps match the amount of moves that Mega Man and Zero are capable of using. Well by moves I mean uh swords. Since Gilgamesh has a lot of swords as the King of Heroes. A sword is a move. Really. Especially when fired at high speeds from a... Wait... you mean Gilgamesh isn't the King of Heroes? Lopen's prediction: Mega Man X vs Zero with 80.01% Leon’s Analysis Time for X and Zero to flex their muscles some more. Bartz and Gilgamesh may be from Final Fantasy, but don’t be fooled. Less than 65% on Guybrush is pretty pathetic, and they’re probably the weakest FF pairing in this contest by a pretty big margin. I’m not sure they’re even that much better than Captain Falcon/Black Shadow because Captain Falcon probably rocks Bartz or Gilgamesh 1-on-1. I’ll give them a little benefit of the doubt here just because it’s Final Fantasy compared to F-Zero, but not much. Leonhart’s Prediction: Mega Man X vs. Zero with 78.40% Kleenex’s Analysis Who's ready for 24 hours of Gilgamesh? I know I am. X and Zero certainly are too. This match probably gets pretty ugly. Not sure if X and Zero will outdo their percentage from round. I'm gonna go with no, just because breaking 80% again would be pretty nuts. Also I'm biased. Kleenex's Prediction: X vs. Zero with 76.45% Applekidjosh’s Analysis crap something came up sorry i can't type more X gon give it to ya X wins with 80.00% Dante’s Analysis blowoutfaqs Winner - X/Zero - 79.99% Guest’s Analysis - Ultimaphazon This one will be a boring blowout, but it might give us something fun to speculate for the upcoming match against the ninjas. If they underpeform, expect the upset train to start rolling. That's not very likely to happen though. In the first round, we saw X/Zero lay down an impressive 80/20 on Falcon/someone, and Bartz/Gilgamesh managed to almost doubled the almighty Guybrush. Or should I put that last point as "failed to double the eternal turbo-fodder Guybrush"? X/Zero are going to have another impressive performance here, but how high can they go? I'll give the FFV-duo the benefit of the doubt and assume they are stronger than Falcon and his pal. They won't be much stronger though, so removing a percent point from their round 1 performance, we end up around: X/Zero - 79.50% Crew Consensus: X(/Zero) gon give it to ya indeed |

Mega Man X vs Bartz A 64% performance in Round One? Pretty dang solid! ...is what I'd be saying if Bartz had played anyone besides Flippin' Guybrush (and in a Day Match where he's hugely handicapped, I might add). Meanwhile MMX is the guy who gave birth to both BlowoutFAQs and Rivalry Matters© with his 80% pounding of a Nintendo ICON (sort of). I don't see any reason not to expect more of the same here in Round Two, except that since Bartz doesn't have a 300 lbs rock named "Shadow" tied to his neck, he should at least be able to RMF his way into the 30s. But then again, maybe not; I forgot to consider how disadvantaged MMX was by that Falcon match happening overnight (he drew 82% of the North American vote but Europe and Australia still hate him, keeping him under 70% there). X will probably get out to a great start in this one, shed a few percentage points after the opening hours, but then gain it all back and more once NA wakes up. (2) Sub-Zero/Scorpion vs. (3) Donkey Kong/King K. Rool (R1) Sub-Zero/Scorpion: 73.22% vs. Leon Kennedy/Ada Wong (R1) Donkey Kong/King K. Rool: 60.2% vs. Ezio Auditore da Firenze/Rodrigo Borgia DK/Ezio was a debated match before the contest, and he obviously smashed expectations by blowing the AC duo away 60-40. Unfortunately for DK, he was to be upstaged by the MK ninjas, whose 73% on Leon/Ada was probably the most impressive performance relative to expectations in the whole of round one - remember that Leon/Ada actually drew 15% in their vote-in, and were a clear tier above Freeman/Breen and Raynor/Kerrigan. I'd expect Leon/Ada are at least a little stronger than Ezio/Rodrigo - neither are great rivalries, but Ada has to be worth more than Rodrigo, and Leon would beat Ezio. Considering that, I'd expect something in the high 60s here. Sub-Zero vs. Scorpion with 69% of the vote. --- Praise the Black Turtle, Game of the Decade Guru Champ. Northeast Division: Round 2 - Match 36 – (3) DK/K. Rool vs. (2) Sub-Zero/Scorpion Moltar’s Analysis DK/K. Rool Round 1 - 60.2% vs. Ezio/Rodrigo why did I go with the upset in my bracket again? Sub-Zero/Scorpion Round 1 - 73.22% vs. Leon/Ada I said wow So the MK team put up one of the most surprising blowouts in Round 1, and a big sign of rivalries mattering in this contest. DK managed to do well by not choking for once, but Sub and Scorp just looked too good in R1. Leon and Ada are individually stronger than DK/K. Rool, but I don’t think DK gets tripled here. It’s Nintendo and DK is kind of nostalgic, so I’ll go on a limb and say that the MK rivalry underperforms a little...if you’re expectations of them are to hit 70%+. This shouldn’t be close though. Moltar’s Bracket: Sub-Zero/Scorpion Moltar’s Prediction: Sub-Zero/Scorpion - 69% Lopen’s Analysis Donkey Kong thinks Scorpion is a banana something something “get over here!” something something. I couldn't care less about this match and round 1 says all you need to know about who wins. Hail our new 60/40 overlords. Lopen's prediction: Sub-Zero vs Scorpion with 60.40% Leon’s Analysis We just saw Sonic/Robotnik get done scoring 62-63% on Kirby/Meta Knight a couple days ago. Now this leads me to ask two questions. 1. Is Sub-Zero/Scorpion stronger than Sonic/Robotnik? Chances of that are pretty good at this point. 2. Is DK/K. Rool weaker than Kirby/Meta Knight? I’d say almost certainly, in my opinion. Heck, I doubt DK/K. Rool would be that much stronger than Leon/Ada, if at all. Which means this match probably gets really ugly, and we can get hyped up about X/Zero vs. Sub-Zero/Scorpion potentially being an exciting match after seeing the MK ninjas blow the doors off of this thing again! Leonhart’s Prediction: Sub-Zero vs. Scorpion with 72.27% Kleenex’s Analysis I'm interested to see how this match turns out, because I'm not entirely sold on the MK duo being a huge powerhouse yet, despite their dominating performance last round. Logic would dictate that Sub-Zero and Scorpion should do even better this round because DK is weaker than Leon and K. Rool is almost assuredly weaker than Ada. If Sub and Scorp absolutely go to down, I might be worried about them taking down X and Zero next round, but for now let's go with... Kleenex's Prediction: Sub-Zero vs. Scorpion with 74.21% |

Seriously this match personally hurts because I did play both those games when they were fresh and the obvious victor here should be Donkey Kong. I mean clearly gamefaqs voters can forgive crappy 3d and current spinoff showings for classic love and a Smash Bros appearance, right Sonic? But alas, it is not meant to be. This ninja synergy is going to beat up the master of the choke without a problem. Now I haven't seen what the "experts" are saying we should be looking for here to make Sub-Scorp a favorite going into the X vs Zero match, but I'm gonna get worried if they can score over a doubling. And just to show my support for X and Zero in the next match... Sub-Zero vs Donkey Kong DK overperformed by 9% on Ezio and suddenly the dream was alive! (The dream in this case being "what if we one of these second round matches was somehow worth being interested in?") Then this MK duo had to go and outperform by 17% just 12 hours later, and the dream was once again dead. Now people are looking at that 73% and saying that since Leon >> DK under normal circumstances, Subby will be able to push his team up to 70 again without much of a problem. To that I respond, YOU FOOLS! R2 has made it increasingly clear that rivalries matter even more than we originally expected (and perhaps that "SmarterVoterFAQs" will give them increasing importance as the bracket moves forward), and I think DK/K. Rool has enough nostalgic SNES clout to easily improve on the beatdown Leon suffered. So yeah, high 60s are still a definite possibility here, but I'll back DKC to hold them to a more respectable mid-60s myself. over the in Oracle topic, whether or not they are the same person. The
best strategy for teams is for partners to pick very close to each
other. Given the same average team prediction, putting the picks close
to each other will produce an equal or higher team score than putting

points apart, and the result is 10 off your average, one person gets a
perfect score and the other is 20 points off, so your team score is
