my gut's been right so far this round though I haven't actually gone with it in my picks. my gut is saying that Cloud makes Samus look bad here, and that when the going gets tough he'll put up a real performance. prove me wrong, Cloud! --- xyzzy |

Horrible! Yes, Bowser will end up much closer to Mario extrapolating through Charizard than he would straight up. Do you know why? Because Pokémon don't get SFFed! In the 2009 games contest, Red/Blue/Yellow managed to kick the crap out of Majora's Mask twice, the second time with Gold/Silver leaching it, then managed to not only turn around its failure to beat Metal Gear Solid once Gold/Silver left, but also beat out Final Fantasy VIII and advanced in second place...behind Ocarina of Time. Let me repeat: Red/Blue/Yellow beat out a Metal Gear Solid game and a Final Fantasy game with the #1 Nintendo game and #1 game period in the poll. If Ocarina of Time can't SFF the Generation I Pokémon games, how do you expect Mario to? I have a theory that the reason that Pokémon don't get SFFed by Nintendo is because they were primarily on the Game Boy. Unlike the Nintendo consoles of the time (N64, then Gamecube), which had competition from Sony and either Sega or Microsoft (Dreamcast flopped right around when XBox came out), the Game Boy had complete control of the market for a long period of time. http://www.gamefaqs.com/systems.html There's the system list. The PSP is considered a 7th-generation system--currently active; its main competitor is the DS. The Game Gear is listed as a fourth-generation system, same as the original Game Boy. The fifth and sixth generations, where Nintendo had the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance out? The best competition they had were the WonderSwan and the NeoGeo Pocket Color, respectively. ...Yeah, exactly. Even people who preferred Playstation and PS2 to N64 and Gamecube probably still had a GBC/GBA if they wanted portable games. Cloud
and Samus are actually pretty balanced characters in both day and night
matches, usually. Of course, Samus had extra potential benefits if she

Okay, here's what I'd been meaning to post before I was interrupted. --- Quickie w/ Ng: Between Mizno and Charizard and Tifa it's clear that the voters demand CHANGE. And when that starts happening I'd sure hate to be Final Fantasy 7, because, well... Snake > Cloud, Kirby > Seph, you know the drill. Count on Samus to ride that wave of CHANGE to a strong performance in this one.
