Lopen: …Indeed, a new game is about to begin. What is the gameboard like this time? Moltar: It’s back to 1-on-1, this time, with 128 characters! Sounds interesting, riiiiiiight? I can’t wait to determine the results using my magic! Lopen: …Hmph, such a child you are, Moltar. Your magic means nothing. The results are determined by the voters. Moltar: Hoh! So you want to challenge me again, Lopen? I’ll create all the results, and you won’t be able to explain them with voters! They will be so unpredictable that everyone will be forced to accept my magic! The number of votes I can create are endless! I am the Voting Witch, Master Moltar! Lopen: …Very well, I, the Witch of Upsets, Lopen, accept your challenge. I don’t expect to be bored. Tran: Hey you two! What are you talking about! Let me in! Let me in! Moltar: It’s another game between Lopen and I. Will you be supporting me again, Tran? Tran: Naaaah, I’m tired of you, Moltar. And I would never be on Lopen’s side! Therefore, I, the Witch of Locks, Transience, will make my own side! Lopen: …Make your own side? I see you’re still a child too, Tran. At least you won’t make me bored though. Tran: Hehe, I love you Lopen! You’re so <cute>! Moltar: I want to invite someone in on this little game between us. Come forth, my finest servant, Ngamer. Ngamer: Ngamer here, at your service, Master Moltar. Moltar: Do you wish to participate in this game with us? Ngamer: Very well, I, Ngamer, will join. Let me warn you though, I am pretty good and figuring out the true results, pukuku. Lopen: …I see, now this is even more interesting. I shall bring a guest too. Kleenex, where are you? Kleenex: I’m right here, Lopen! Lopen: You will participate in this game as well. If you win, I’ll promote you to the rank of a Witch. You can be the Witch of Facts. *giggle* Kleenex: <Good>. Round 4 Tea Party Moltar: Hmm…my game is almost over. Another game…another victory for the Endless Voting witch. That’s how it always goes. No one has ever succeeded in disproving my magical power, and I doubt anyone ever will. … Moltar: Huh, what’s that? …*voices* Moltar: That sounds like…some kind of argument. I wonder what’s going on. *disappears* Moltar: *reappears on the ceiling of a nearby room* Hoh! What’s this? Tran: You’re wrong, Lopen! Wrong wrong wrong wrong! I’m the one who has this contest figured out! Lopen: …Pitiful, your childish tantrum only proves that you know nothing. I will be the victor. (Moltar: So Lopen and Tran are having a fight? This should be entertaining! I’ll keep watching from up here. Let’s see how much the two of you truly know!) Tran: Did you know that Luigi is actually stronger than MMX? Link just SFFed him so hard, he ended up looking weaker! (Moltar: What is Transience saying? I thought he would know better than that! However, you can go on thinking that. Anyway, I have no issues with that division that I wish to argue over. Instead, I’ll give you my insight on the Chaos Division. Kirby’s performance on Ganondorf means that he’s stronger of the two. (Moltar: Wow, Lopen actually fell for that? Kirby and Ganondorf are near-equals! I only made Kirby look stronger due to other factors. He’ll never win if he keeps up that line of thinking!) Tran: I knew that! I know everything because I am <Super Smart>! Did you know that Mario SFFed Mega Man? (Moltar: Are you serious? Mario did not SFF Mega Man! Mega Man is worth that much on Mario! I expected better than this from these two!) Lopen: Of course I did. Also, based on Charizard’s performance, he is at the level of the lower end of the Noble Nine! (Moltar: Ahaha! If this keeps up, I’m going to burst out laughing and get noticed! Charizard’s numbers on Bowser are inflated due to the new Pokemon games! Did they really believe that Kratos is stronger than Bowser? These two are blind slaves to my magic! Tran: I knew that too! I also know that Samus SFFed Zelda because she’s the stronger girl! (Moltar: That doesn’t even make sense! It’s clear that Zelda has dropped in strength!) Lopen: …Ha, you’re doing better than I thought. However, I bet you were completely unaware of the fact that Ryu, Dante and Leon are the strongest characters in their division after Cloud, and Falcon overperformed against Cloud. (Moltar: I…wait…that’s actually not a bad guess. Maybe they do know some things after all!) Tran: And Snake is looking stronger than ever! (Moltar: I guess I spoke too soon. These two really are hopless! 2010 Solid Snake is not the strongest Solid Snake.) Lopen: The last thing is…Sephiorth and Tifa. Tran: Tifa looked really good in that match. She did way better than Vincent did. Do you know why, Lopen? Lopen …Yes. I know why. However, I’m not going to tell you. (Moltar: C’mon, let me hear your theory! Seph/Tifa was my finest work this round! I want to hear your stupid theories regarding it!) Tran: No way! I won’t tell! You’re just bluffing. You don’t know what happened. Lopen: Of course I do. You are the foolish child who wishes to learn the answer. Tran: Waaah! I am not a child! Shut up, Lopen! Lopen: You sure do whine like a child. Tran: Waaaaah! Stop it! Quarterfinals: Round 5 - Match 121 – (1) Link vs. (1) Sonic Moltar’s Analysis Link Round 1 - 79.81% vs. Thrall Round 2 - 71.79% vs. Alucard Round 3 - 67.28% vs. Mega Man X Round 4 - 71.13% vs. Luigi The fun of SFF Sonic Round 1 - 63.86% vs. Lightning Round 2 - 67.61% vs. Knuckles Round 3 - 57.18% vs. Ganondorf Round 4 - 54.61% vs. Kirby And Sonic proves that second-tier Nintendo characters can’t beat him. Well, Link isn’t going to lose here. It’ll be interesting to see how Sonic does in relation to MMX though. Sonic hasn’t looked bad in his last two rounds, and the top characters haven’t been dominating as usual, so he may do fine here. Night match helps him out a bit too. He could get SFFed smacked…but I’ll bet against that after MMX looked fine. Moltar’s Bracket: Link > Sonic Moltar’s Prediction: Link: 64% - Sonic: 36% Lopen’s Analysis I don't even know if this is going to be a full day match or not. I'm assuming that doesn't happen till next round. Anyway just 7 more matches, glorious! Who will win today? Well, Sonic's got no chance here. To my knowledge this match hasn't happened yet, though. I think Sonic overperforms here. Maybe cause of people fiending for an upset, maybe cause Sonic just has some crazy Shadow the Hedgehog like interaction when he goes straight up against flagship Nintendo. Who knows. All I knows is I'm feelin a great performance here. Lopen prediction: Link with 56.98% Transience’s Analysis I think Sonic had a perfect path this year - a character with a game that didn't exist yet, another Sonic character it could SFF to oblivion, and two lower-tier Nintendo characters, one of which got turned into a pig. You see, I think Nintendo and Sonic overlap, and I think Sonic took advantage of being higher in the hierarchy there: he's just more iconic than Kirby or Ganondorf. I don't think Sonic is all that special -- seriously, he couldn't double a character without a game yet -- but when it comes to secondary and tertiary Nintendo characters, I'm not worried about him. Sure, Kirby beat him last year but that was a weird situation. What I'm trying to say is that Link is everything Ganondorf and Kirby aren't and that Link is going to tear Sonic a new one because of it. Sonic hasn't been beaten this badly since Cloud went for the doubling in 2003. If Auron can 55/45 Sonic, what's Link going to do? I want to see if Sonic can outdo Luigi's percentage. If he can't vs. the king of Nintendo, he'll be a laughingstock. transience's prediction: Link with 65.97% |
Ngamer’s Analysis Quickie w/ Ng: I'm still a heavy Sonic disbeliever- in fact I'd even consider taking MMX to outperform him vs Link if this were a Day Match. But since its the Night, those Zelda-hating Europeans are bound to bail him out; even so, I doubt he escapes the doubling by MUCH. Ngamer Says: Link > Sonic, 64.79% Kleenex’s Analysis Been really busy today and really don't have the energy for anything long and drawn out here, despite being a quarterfinal match. Sonic's proved that he's not the chump we thought he might be after last year, but it's Link time. Sonic's gonna get stomped here Doesn't help that Sonic's got some Nintendo overlap. He'll still probably put up the best performance on Link this contest, but that's not saying much. Bracket: Link Favorites: Link Prediction: Link with 64.14% Red Sox’s Analysis It's time for the King of SFF to return to form and absolutely annihilate Sonic. Yes, I've been saying this for the past 3 rounds, but this time it will come true! Ok, well, it probably won't. someone, it's purely by accident. TsunamiXXVIII's Guest Analysis Sonic, Sonic, Sonic. What do we do with you? Rumors of your vulnerability as a Noble Niner were greatly exaggerated. However, against Link, you're pretty much doomed. Link did better against Luigi than he did against Mega Man X, proving once and for all that he is the King of SFF. But how much SFF does Sonic have with the Nintendo crew? Enough to beat Ganondorf and Kirby with ease, anyway. Or was it? Eh...I don't know. Sonic should still be stronger than MMX...right? Okay, maybe not. However, it should be noted that no Noble Niner has ever been held below 30%, even against Link. (The only doubling ever scored against a Noble Niner was Link over Mega Man in 2004.) Quarterfinals: Round 5 - Match 122 – (1) Mario vs. (7) Charizard Moltar’s Analysis Mario Round 1 - 81.04% vs. Falco Round 2 - 63.16% vs. Big Boss Round 3 - 74.10% vs. Ike Round 4 - 58.38% vs. Mega Man MM’s good contest run ends with a lackluster showing against Mario Charizard Round 1 - 64.25% vs. Duke Round 2 - 54.49% vs. Kratos Round 3 - 60.64% vs. L-Block Round 4 - 54.73% vs. Bowser Now THAT…was impressive - Randy Orton on Charizard vs. Bowser Charizard’s had a great Contest. Only newcomer since 2003 other than Diablo and Vincent to win his division in his debut. Even his thrashing of Bowser last round was just crazy. However, HG/SS is like soooooooooo last week, and now Charizard has reached the end of the road. Bowser couldn’t SFF him, and I doubt Mario will do the same, so this is going to come down to raw strength. Also, Charizard should be stronger than Big Boss, but weaker than Mega Man. If Charizard Flare Blitz’d his way over 40%, that would be an amazing showing, and with the way things have been going, it’s entirely possible! Riding off that HG/SS high! Moltar’s Bracket: Mario > Sora Moltar’s Prediction: Mario: 60% - Charizard: 40% Lopen’s Analysis Well, Charizard only got 54% on Bowser on the release of Pokemanz Kingdom Hearts Tier Cheese Titles, so you've gotta assume Mario can make that up. I'm thinking not by that much. Upset fiending and the release being fresh will help Charizard look good. Bring on Snake/Seph already. Lopen's prediction: Mario with 56.98% Transience’s Analysis I've thought for the past couple of rounds that Charizard has a bandwagon going on. Now that he's beaten Bowser, I'd say that that bandwagon is in full swing. Knuckles got this in 2005 when he exposed Magus: suddenly people were scared he'd beat Squall (the Crew famously picked Knuckles over Squall) and he overperformed bigtime because of being the cool upset train that could. More recently, Kirby knocked off Sonic and that momentum took him to leading Cloud for a full hour. Charizard has people stupidly talking about how he's going to beat Mario because he got 55% on Bowser. That's just dumb. What *isn't* dumb, though, is expecting a big performance from him. He has no reason to break 40% here, but there's too many Pokefanboys running around lately and he's a cool upset pick. 3% of the brackets picked the 'zard to win. You think people haven't noticed that? transience's prediction: Mario with 57.94% Ngamer’s Analysis Quickie w/ Ng: As we've learned many times already this year, you don't bet against Pokemon in a Day Match. In fact I've learned the lesson so thoroughly that I'm drinking the Kool Aid and picking Charizard to... out perform Mega Man! (Can't believe I just said that.) Ngamer Says: Mario > Charizard, 58.37% Kleenex’s Analysis Die Charizard die.
