this is probably over. this stalled out pretty hard at 2pm though so if
Auron gets some afterschool love, we could be in for something. I'm not

basic trends for this match seem to be: Squall builds a lead for a
little bit, Auron makes some small cuts for a few updates, Squall takes
back everything Auron did in two updates and then some, repeat. --- Squall Leonhart is the worst Final Fantasy character ever created. |
I
just now checked the poll, but Auron leading in the US seems like some
good news, but I'm not too familiar with either guy's trends with after

Yeah,
it's kinda weird. Auron's winning the U.S. (and North America overall
slightly), but Squall is beating him pretty easily everywhere else.
Auron's lucky that the U.S. makes up such a large percentage of the

Squall
does, too. Their trends are about the same. FFVIII and FFX had pretty
identical trends in the Games Contest (not that it necessarily means

Jenova Division: Round 3 - Match 111 – (1) Sephiroth vs. (13) Missingno Moltar’s Analysis Sephiroth Round 1 - 71.80% vs. Marth Round 2 - 62.66% vs. Vincent I guess Seph missed the class on SFF Missingno Round 1 - 50.29% vs. Crono Round 2 - 51.51% vs. Yoshi Victim #2 Some were saying that if Missingno beats Yoshi, it wins the contest. I actually think Seph will be its toughest challenge. We’ve seen Missingno get a day-long rally and power its way past Crono. We’ve seen Missingno use the Pokemon ASV to put away Yoshi. However, not only does it now have to deal with the #3 character on the site, it also has to do it in a night match. And FF7 rocks during the night. However, it still has a very real shot of winning. The board may have preferred Crono and Yoshi over Missingno, but Seph is the most anti-voted character we’ve got. Missingno could kill Seph at the start and then just ride on that momentum overnight. FF7 is easy to rally against, you know. I’m pretty torn here though. On one hand, I feel that Seph is just too much and it’ll be too hard for Missingno to rally up all those votes at night. On the other hand, there shouldn’t be anything stopping it from doing so if it could beat Crono and Yoshi. Jokes aren’t static. I…guess I’ll go with the glitch. Now watch as Seph wins this without any trouble. Moltar’s Bracket: Sephiroth > Crono (whoops) Moltar’s Prediction: Sephiroth: 50% - Missingno: 50% Lopen’s Analysis Sephiroth made his love for heaving blue bars no secret. He loved comparing size with his opponent, always ending up on top, usually in a dominant fashion. However, this was a bit much even for him... his opponent, in and of itself was a bar. Gone were the days of swordplay and thrusting to get him into the match, gone were the beautiful women and men he loved to impale. There was almost no motivation here.... it's... a bar. Sephiroth now battles his most fearsome foe-- the inability to perform up to par, such is the fate of putting the cart before the horse. Can he prevail? You know I'm bored when even my erotic fanfiction suffers! Anyway to actually analyze... Sephiroth can easily make up the 1% between him and Crono, so this match comes down to 'do you think MissingNo is gaining momentum.' Well, I have trouble determining that... what gives me some more confidence, however, is... Save_US.FFXIIIBoost. (if it does indeed exist) Lopen's prediction: Sephiroth with 54.03% Transience’s Analysis Missingno barely beat Crono. Sephiroth would destroy Crono. This is a night match and there's nobody better at night than the FF7 guys. Sephiroth should take this in a walk. I'm picking Missingno because I think Sephiroth is a very easy target to rally against. Missingno's got a bandwagon now and its "fans" are going to do whatever it takes to crush Seph. I think a lower vote total makes it easier to do this, and this being a night match helps Missingno more than it does Sephiroth. I think the beginning of this match is going to be hilarious and that Missingno fans will take advantage of this to bury Sephiroth. I think Missingno is guaranteed a certain amount of votes no matter the opponent, and if it can get that + the anti-Sephiroth votes, it should eclipse 50%. I think FF7 is at the beginning of its downward spiral and that it will show here. I think this match could be tragic. :) transience's prediction: Missingno with 53.31% |
Ngamer’s Analysis Quickie w/ Ng: I honestly expect a huge early push to result in enough bandwagoning for the Mizno win here. BUT, my Auron faith just dropped me from 4th to 7th in the Oracle and I can't afford another 5 point risk right now, so here's to pretending Seph will still win! Ngamer Says: Sephiroth > Mizno, 50.99% Kleenex’s Analysis This is it. The match that will, in all likelihood, decide the contest. The past two rounds, Missingno has adjusted its strength to its oppenent and just barely pulled out the win. It's going to have to make a pretty huge adjustment here to pull this one off. Sephiroth is going to look awful the first couple minutes of this poll, but I think he's going to be able to take care of business once the initial antivote wears off. Missingno didn't really seem to bandwagon between Round 1 and Round 2, so it's going to need a huge one to oust Sephiroth during his best time. Then again, Pokemon's really good in Europe too...nah. save_US.bishie Bracket: Sephiroth Favorites: Sephiroth Prediction: Sephiroth with 56.78% Red Sox’s Analysis The biggest match of round 3 arrives! There are 2 questions here: 1. Will Missingno get a large bandwagon like L-Block did? 2. How much rallying will Missingno get? The 12-hour format favors him here, because it makes the early vote so much more important, and that early vote hates Sephiroth and will favor Missingno very heavily if he gets a bandwagon. If it's close (say, if it would end within a few thousand normally), Missingno also has rally power. He demonstrated it against Crono, and no joke has ever lost a close match. It's somewhat harder to rally in a night match though, especially when the most profitable period for rallying may be very early in the match, when ralliers may not yet see the need for rallying with Missingno in the lead. Guest’s Analysis - War Allow me to start out by saying that logically, Sephiroth should win this easily. Missingno without rallying isn't much stronger than Yoshi, and even with rallying it barely beat Crono. So let's look at all the factors in Sephiroth's favor: At worst the #5 in the contest, and at worst beats the characters who gave Missingno a hard time with 60%. His worst time coincides with Missingno's worst time. He has his best timeframe in this match. It should be harder to rally for Missingno at night. L-Block and Cube both bombed once they faced characters stronger than them. Pokemon should be easy to rally against. The last time we had such a hated entrant among stats topics regulars against something usually disliked was Warcraft/GTA. Guess who B8 tried to stuff for that time? However, let's look at Missingno's factors: He's been a constant quality vote draw. If the Missingno loyalists are willing to stay up later than usual for him, he could win this easily. Pic advantage. It takes a lot of effort to give anything a pic edge against Missingno. This is not one of those pics. Final Fantasy VII should be easy to rally against. Missingno was able to pull a monster rally against Crono. Seriously, the glitch is gonna have a ton of rallies for him. ExThaNemesis. ExTha is notoriously awful at getting out of the cellar, and if this factor transfers over to Sephiroth, Missingno could win with 60%. These factors combined seem to give Missingno an edge. In fact, I want to take Missingno to win. I want to take Missingno to win with tons of room to spare. But it's not enough. Not yet. Let's just hope everyone above me is willing to help out. Big Daddy wouldn’t even beat Gordon (spoilers Gordon has killed him before), no way does he touch Tifa. He’d be doing great to even match Gordon’s percentage on her, but I highly doubt that’s going to happen. Moltar’s Bracket: Tifa > Ness Moltar’s Prediction: Big Daddy: 36% - Tifa: 64% Lopen’s Analysis Who's your daddy, Tifa? Well, it's not this guy.
