Southeast Division: Round 3 - Match 103 – (1) Super Mario Galaxy vs. (4) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Moltar’s Analysis Super Mario Galaxy Round 1 - 74.79% on Beyond Good and Evil Round 2 - 59.90% on Pokemon R/S/E Galaxy not looking too hot. Twilight Princess Round 1 - 79.38% on Shenmue Round 2 - 68.87% on Dragon Age: Origins TP looking great. Galaxy deserves to win not only this match, but the whole contest. Unfortunately, only a small part of GameFAQs agrees with this. No one else cares for it, which explains why it’s only a tough midcarder in these Contests. Twilight Princess, on the other hand, is a beast. Link > Mario and new Zelda > new Mario. Galaxy isn’t going to win this one. I mean, it failed to break 60% on RSE while Brawl goes and gets 70% on DPP, a game Galaxy had trouble with last year. Hate to say it, but Galaxy isn’t worth much. Not only would TP win by a good margin without SFF, but with it? RIP Galaxy. Moltar’s Bracket: Zelda TP wins Moltar’s Prediction: Zelda TP - 65% Lopen’s Analysis I had Mario Galaxy in this match, but when the Zelda game gets over 10% more on Dragon Age than the Mario game gets on Pokemon Bad, well, one thing becomes clear: You can't stop the Zelda machine. Lopen's prediction: Twilight Princess with 58.74% Transience’s Analysis This match is like a miniature version of the Ocarina of Time / Super Mario 64 match from 2004. In that match, OOT absolutely obliterated Mario, getting nearly 80% and scaring the hell out of everyone who had FF7 in their brackets. TP is no OOT, but Galaxy is no Mario 64 either. Galaxy has some serious support for Best Game Ever, something Twilight Princess will never get. Because of that, I don't think TP can blitz Galaxy in the way that it probably should, but it's still going to be a no-doubter. If TP can't get 60% here I'll probably just blame the weird Nintendo fanbase. It's funny - Galaxy is way more loved than TP but is way weaker. Leon’s Analysis It’s weird how contests give you rooting interests that are based on something other than your own personal preference. There are characters I like and dislike based solely on Character Battles. While I like Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy is one of my favorite games of all-time. And yet, part of me wants Twilight Princess to crush Galaxy into a fine powder so all these delusional weirdos who still think Galaxy has a semblance of strength will finally have to relent and admit they were wrong. Seriously, I saw people pre-contest touting that they thought Galaxy would break 40% on Twilight Princess here. What the heck, man? There’s no way it avoids getting SFF’d here, especially after the number Brawl put up on it last contest. Yes, in an ideal world, Galaxy should reach the finals of this contest, but we don’t live in one. We live in a world (or we browse a site, whatever) where people don’t care about modern Mario games anymore (and I fully blame Super Mario Sunshine for this, forever and ever). And for some reason, people don’t seem to believe that Twilight Princess is that strong, but I’d probably put it up there in the top 5 games of this contest (Let’s see…FFX, Melee, Brawl…Uhhh…Yep, those are probably the only games in this contest I’d take over TP). It’s going to crush Galaxy here. I’d consider it a moral victory if it somehow avoided the doubling. Leonhart’s Embarrassing Confession of the Match: I actually haven’t gotten 120 stars with Luigi in Galaxy 1 yet and thus I’ve yet to unlock the Grand Finale Galaxy and 100% the game. Leonhart’s Prediction: Twilight Princess with 69.11% Kleenex’s Analysis Man, this match is going to be ugly. Galaxy hasn't been flopping quite as hard as I thought it might have based on last year (how the hell did it get a 1 seed anyway?) but it's facing ZELDA. And ZELDA has been stomping all over this bracket so far. Twilight Princess has looked about as good as you could hope for it to look, and it's very likely going to utterly embarrass Galaxy tonight. I wouldn't be surprised to see this end up being OoT/SM64-esque. It'll really be that bad. Kleenex's Prediction: Twilight Princess with 72.15% Applekidjosh’s Analysis Are there still any crazy people that think Mario Galaxy has a chance here? I mean putting aside any contest showings so far, the "IT'S FREAKING ZELDA" factor is pretty hard to overcome, especially in a Nintendo SFF battle! I think the general concensus is low 60s, but I'll go a little higher than that and hope for some slaughtering. Yup, these contests have changed my preferences. 1. OOT down 2. FFVII up 3. RBY up 4. LTTP up 5. SM64 down 6. Chrono Trigger up 7. Melee neutral 8. Brawl down 9. MGS neutral 10. SMW down 11. SMB3 neutral 12. FFX down 13. Goldeneye up 14. TP down 15. MGS4 down --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

yeah uh, I forgot Galaxy/TP was today this is why I don't sign up for guest spots >_> Late Guest Analysis Before the contest, Zelda was considered to be the favorite... and since then, that sentiment has only increased. It's too bad the site doesn't really care for the Galaxy games, because they're some of the absolute best of the past few years. Getting near 60% on a Pokemon game would look pretty good... if the Pokemon game weren't the weakest in the main series, weak enough to let a GTA game stay close to it. And since the Zelda series name still holds its respectability, this isn't going to be pretty.
