Northeast Division: Round 1 - Match 9 – (1) Metroid Prime vs. (16) Star Ocean 3 Moltar’s Analysis Metroid Prime So after embarrassing itself in the last Games Contest, it comes back...as a 1 seed. Star Ocean 3 For some reason, I always associate Pokemon with Star Ocean now...thanks HM. I love Prime. I love the Prime series, but when you lose to Vice City, you know you have ass for strength (and not the good kind of ass). Prime is lucky it has an easy top-half of the division, because it doesn’t deserve its one seed at all. Of course, now watch Prime dominate now that it’s away from Nintendo games. SO3 is going to be weak anyway, so it’ll be nice to see Prime do well for once. Moltar’s Bracket: Metroid Prime > Star Ocean 3 Moltar’s Prediction: Metroid Prime - 70% Lopen’s Analysis Metroid Prime looked kinda bad last year when it lost to Vice City. I'm not sure if that's a big deal or not, but this match might be a good way to get some insight on it, maybe. Other than that uhhh Samus has already cleaned out Planet Oceans in Maridia so this should be no problem. Word. Lopen's prediction: Metroid Prime with 73.33% Transience’s Analysis Phew, out of the cursed Division 1. Metroid Prime is not that strong and SO3 is not that weak - I'd compare SO3 to being about as strong as Legend of Dragoon while Prime is probably stronger than Uncharted 2. Metroid has a franchise name that means something to people, though, while Uncharted is still getting there. It'll win but it won't be a killing. transience's prediction: Metroid Prime with 65.89% Leon’s Analysis This one’s pretty straightforward. As mediocre as Prime’s strength will be in this contest, Star Ocean isn’t touching it here. It struggled to get into this contest in the vote-ins, barely losing to Jet Grind Radio and barely beating Radiant Dawn. Still, I don’t think it’ll get completely crushed here. Till the End of Time did pretty decent in its polls, and in hindsight, avoiding the doubling against Pokemon in the Series Contest actually wasn’t that bad! Regardless, like I said, Metroid Prime is going to win this one easily. I do think that it’ll probably do worse than people expect, and it’ll get people who picked it to win the division panicking. It’s kinda strange how well Prime did back in the day, and now it seems like it’s fallen off a bit since the site shift. It went from beating Half-Life 1 easily and getting 45% on Wind Waker to not even being able to beat Vice City and getting rolled by Kingdom Hearts 1, Paper Mario in the poll or not. I don’t think its chances of winning the division are as hopeless as some people do, but it’s more because I have little faith in its competition than because I have faith in Prime. Leonhart’s Embarrassing Confession of the Match: I never finished Metroid Prime. I got to the Meta-Ridley fight, stopped, and never picked it up again, and that was like 5 years ago. Kleenex’s Analysis Alright, new division time. We're just going to go ahead and forget that first one even happened and start over fresh. This should be an easy one, and it might help gauge how Metroid Prime is going to fair in the coming rounds. Star Ocean should be pretty damn weak (shame!), so I'd expect Prime to put up some pretty impressive numbers here if it wants a shot at getting out of the division. The problem here is that Metroid Prime has just looked so weak in pretty much every other poll it's ever been in. Not to say that it's in any danger of losing to Star Ocean here, but it's certainly in danger of looking pathetic. We'll see what happens. Kleenex's Prediction: Metroid Prime with 67.34% Applekidjosh’s Analysis I seriously missed three of the first eight matches? Ouch. My goal is to only miss two in this division! I mean, uh, to get a perfect division... Anyway we finally get to see a Nintendo game with some strength! And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Star Ocean 3 the game that got universally panned for having no real redeeming features and being long as hell? Metroid Prime > Star Ocean with 76.05% Guest’s Analysis - GrapefruitKing Why did I sign up to write this? It's a boring match, and I've never even played Star Ocean 3. So instead, I'll do a write-up about the Slipslide Ride, the Donkey Kong Country level. Slipslide Ride is a really fun level. It's the only ice cavern type level in its whole game! This cavern is filled with fiends that will make your progress more difficult, like bees and jumping kremlings. The slippy ropes are a fun addition, but remember: the blue ones make you go up and the purple ones make you go down! great, and Star Ocean shouldn't be HORRIBLE fodder. I think a Prime
blowout would speak more about how weak Star Ocean is than how strong

Metroid Prime vs Star Ocean 3 Gosh, some quite low Prime preds here, against an opponent that got doubled by Star Wars Battlefront and lost outright to Jet Grind Radio in a playin. Granted, Star Ocean did well enough against Pokemon in the Series contest, but I've got to think the last 4.5 years haven't been so kind to this series.
