definitely not a LTTP believer (Got Mario 3 > LTTP later on, yo!).
Like I said, this performance will tell us nothing about LTTP since
it's an all-Nintendo pack. Actually, if LTTP performs around what Lopen

Match 37 I’m pretty tired and hungry tonight, so this’ll be (mercifully) brief – Link to the Past (obviously) has first wrapped up, but who takes second is anyone’s guess. DKC1 beat Doom and might have an outside shot, but I’ll be siding with one of tha “Supers”… namely, Mario Kart. I don’t care that Super Metroid actually won last time, and I don’t care that it’s probably stronger than Metroid 1 and Prime put together. It’s still Metroid, and it’s still against Zelda. That’s enough of a reason for me! (Note that I had Doom getting second here – curse you KONKEY DONG) So yeah, nothing would surprise me tonight. I kinda worry that DKC is gonna surprise – really, anything can happen. Super
Metroid I think will be hard to get below a certain percentage. This is
a game that many consider the greatest SNES game of all time. Not to
say Zelda isn't in the same boat, but Super Metroid getting below 20%
would surprise me. Meanwhile Mario Kart is the most casual friendly game here and will resist for that reason. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |

And yes I realize I just said "casual friendly" + "holds up" That's not a contradiction. The casual vote is mostly volatile and shouldn't be depended on for high percentage, but I do think it's hard to beat down the casual games too bad. Ngamer's Rebellious Writeup Haha, this is just too funny. Two days ago we (by that I mean the Oracle average) had way too much faith in Zelda and underestimated Mario 1 by 7.33%. Then yesterday we didn't have quite enough respect for Sonic and SF, so we went OVER by 1.76% on Mario 3. Which got us all thinking that lowballing Mario was a good idea... but instead SMW's going to smoke us by about 14%! That's why I love these Contests: 7 years and 11 Contests and 62 matches later and we still have no idea how to even peg Mario, of all things! But, uh yeah, really shocked at FF4 and embarrassed at my lack of respect for Square fans- I was sure FF1 would pull all of the "important" and "original" votes and manage a win despite being the worse game, just like Mario 1 > Zelda 1. And boy is my face red for thinking a Mega Man game might be worth ANYTHING AT ALL! As for tonight, hmmm.... I see some extremely high Zelda picks, but I'm not realling feelin' it. Unlike Mario, Zelda hasn't displayed strong blowout potential so far this season, and I'm also thinking that its such an obvious first place against the all-Nintendo competition that people might be throwing their votes elsewhere. Especially if there's a tight battle for 2nd place going on, which I imagine there will be! All in all this looks much more like a Mario 3 situation than what SMW saw today, so if LttP can still manage 50% I'd be quite impressed. Now originally I was thinking that Metroid's dedicated base would do the best job of avoiding the Zelda SFF to allow it a tight victory, but after the series has disappointed time and again in the last month my faith is shaken. And even going back to 2004- heck, DKC nearly held up better against LttP than SM managed! When you factor in how MK64 went to town on Star Fox, I'm forced to push this into "too close to call" territory. Which means its time to employ the tiebreaker, aka the match pic overanalysis! Whoa, perfect look for LttP- everyone loves the master sword, that's a nice sprite pose for Link, and the title image is big and bold. DKC gets another solid pic pretty close to what worked for it last time, but I have to mark it down a notch for Diddy being almost fully covered up by DK. Super Met, eh... I love the very big title, but Samus seems to be extremely susceptible to underperformances when she doesn't look her best, and I think people expect the classic orange suit from her, not this purple super-suit. Lastly SMK- what a nostalgia overload! It's going to be very difficult for anyone who played countless hours of battle mode back in grade school to vote for any of the other three options with a great look like that.
